I'm considering getting one of these for my mongrel and I seem to remember a thread a while back suggesting eBay as a possible source.

I've been looking and those prices seem to be far too low - a quick Google brings up a few topics on the subject of fake ones.  Even Amazon seems to generate some comments about fakes.

Presumably the original will be better engineered and I don't want to support the production of fakes.  Is there a site selling originals with genuine discount?  The full price for medium seems to be around £35 but just a few pounds off would be nice :)

I got my genuine one from Ebay, there are always loads, and the cost was a tenner including postage. :)

I also got mine from ebay for about a tenner ;-) I then went on to buy for friends as well. We couldn't believe the price :-)

These are the ones that worry me - many of the ads carefully avoid saying *genuine*, some suppliers seem to have them by the hundred, and others have all buyers identities kept private.

It's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff   ...but I'll keep looking

Thanks

some suppliers seem to have them by the hundred,

Mine's definitely genuine. The thing is, they must be fairly cheap to produce, as they are actually quite basic (but work BRILLIANTLY), and anyone buying in bulk and who do NOT have shop premises etc to pay for and only sell on Ebay, I bet they can get good deals and buy them cheap and therefore sell cheap. Probably buying pallet loads at a time.

A quick update

I decided that at these low prices it was worth a go so I bought one from eBay.  I paid about £6.80

Seems genuine enough, packaged just as I've seen them in the shops, and looks and feels exactly like an original.  I can only conclude it's *real* and, yes - a bargain :)

Thanks to all for for the advice xxx

I got one for the dogs and one for the cats from ebay and if they aren't the real thing then they do the job and are decent quality. Like yours they certainly appear genuine and I paid around a tenner too.
