Hi everyone.
Just an update to "clingy bitch"
Took Treacle took the vets this afternnon as we were worried about her not eating and sleeping a lot....well...3 pups were seen:)
vet thinks there might be another 1 or 2 hiding!!
He said I could feed her raw food to try and trigger her eating again...need some help on this one plz:)
Im really excited now:)
I'm having problems getting my bitch to eat anyting just now. The only thing she will eat is chicken wings/thighs. I made a sausage
casserole over the weekend and she wolfed it down

;-) It was supposed to do me a couple of days, but I thought why not try her with a bit? She finished it off and was looking for more :D She turned her nose up at the leftover mince tonight though. ;-)
Getting them to eat can be a worry, especially when the are pregnant. The only thing is that the pups don't seem to suffer. She was like this last time and she went on to whelp 9 pups with out any problems.

I wouldn't worry just yet one of my bitches showed no signs at all until the last week. If I hadn't had her scanned I wouldn't of thought she'd took .She was scanned with 2 pups and had 6 .I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Thanx every1:)
Treacle doesnt look pregnant, we were booked for scan this fri, but went early due to the non eating.
She is now on day 31 from 1st mating.
Good Luck with the up and coming scans to everyone:)
We're on day 25 here & I don't think there are pups on the way, even though madam is playing the Drama Queen & being very picky with her food! I found that pilchards & pasta tempted my girl when she had her 1st litter 2 years ago, also freshly cooked chicken. Good luck to all the expectant mums & stressed out owners....I know what a worrying time it is xxx

Good luck everyone, our girl was a nightmare to feed when she was in whelp, she adored cooked chicken and tripe, now the puppies are here she doesnt eat that much, argh!!!!!!! it is stressful, she eats at weird times, through the night mostly, oh well for now she can eat when she likes,
I had a couple of weeks of this in the middle of my girls pregnancy of not eating, even had two days of morning sickness!!! I cooked some Ox liver in the microwave sprinkled with garlic granules then done it under the grill to make it dry and crisp. I gave her dinners about a 1/3 the size of normal and used the fine bit of my grater for the liver. Just a small amount, stirred it through and then a fine grating on top. This really incourage her to eat, not always the full amount but it got her eating.
In a few weeks you'll be stressing shes eating too much!!! :-)

Hi Debbie,
Is Treacle looking pregnant yet???? And how is her eating now?
xx

Any news on Treacle?
Hi folks..sorry I havent been here for a few days.
Well Treacle is eating a little more than she was...not brilliant..but its something...I went to P@H and bought her a couple of tins of Applaws dog food, £1.24 a tin...waste of money..she turned her nose up at it straight away!!!
Shes eating Butchers puppy food at the mo, with raw mince and small bite mixer for another meal...shes on 3 small meals a day..I just wish she would eat more.
She is definitly looking preggers, scan showed 3 pups..her nipples are huge already! Shes not losing weight, so I suppose thats one good thing. I just try and feed her anything and everything. I tried her on the liver..she ate one meal and wouldnt touch it again. I tried her with a handful of dried puppy food, she had 2 bits!!
Is it worth trying to change her over now, shes just gone 5 wks, I know it says 6wks in B.O.B. she is 6wks on saturday. I actually got her to eat some proper food earlier..not the best way but...opened a tin of ham..mixed a teaspoon of the jelly into her dried food and she cleared the bowl. Vet says shes doing ok despite being fussy.
Very happy, active little dog, now wanting to go for walks..more than she was 2 weeks ago!!
Fingers crossed:)
If you can find something that will get her to eat, could you let me know so that I can tell my bitch? :-D She is due this weekend and is not eating normal dog food. She hasn't done for a couple of weeks. Chicken wings, dog biscuits and minced beef are the order of the day just now. She has turned her nose up at all dog food, eggs, creamed rice, sardines, tuna........ everything I have tried. Mind you, she did this last time and went on to have 9 pups, so I'm not overly worried. :-p

Hah....think yourself lucky as it is just during pregnancy...I have a 3 year old male who has been like this for his entire life.
Tried everything...and I mean everything, he just wants to eat every 3 or 4 days. No appetite, never begs, goes away to sleep elsewhere when it's dinner time..he just isn't hungry.
He eats enough to live, my vet thinks he's fantastically slim and 'athletic'...... and he has enough coat to disguise his slimness - but it doesn't stop judges saying " just needs to body up for top honours" in his critiques :-(
But I love him :-)

I really did try everything I could think of..I was at my wits end..and then she just seemed to turn the corner..well almost.. your girl will be ok...good luck with the puppies:)

does your boy not cry because hes hungry..that must be a real worry, i suppose he will eat when and if hes hungry.
we all love our dogs...thats why we worry:)

My girl who had a litter 5 weeks ago was exactly the same, one day she would eat minced steak with a tiny bit of RC starter added, so I go out and buy more, next day she won't touch it!! So I try something else, chicken wings....great one day, next day won't touch them. I spent an absolute fortune on different foods and she never really picked up at all, when she had the pups (8) she looked like a half starved street dog, but thankfully once she had whelped her eating picked up no end, it's only been the past couple of days, now the pups are on 4 meals a day, that some weight is finally going on and staying on.
Always worrying but she will be fine.
Mine will eat the raw mince with small bite mixer..but I dont like the thought of her eating it all the time tho...she is getting better tho..thank goodness.
> opened a tin of ham..mixed a teaspoon of the jelly into her dried food and she cleared the bowl.
I did this with Bekki the other day she wolfed it down.
She is eating well now 3 big bowls full a day of fresh meat and puppy food, her weight is good now, she looks great and could be shown apart from her teats hanging lolx
I wouldnt worry too much, just feed her what she'll eat at the moment, it is frustrating isnt it?
Good luck with your babies x
Glad Bekki is eating at last:)
cooked some fish for Treacle and the other 2, mixed it in with her food for tea and again cleared the bowl...she had some butchers for her breakfast and again a cleared bowl....glad shes eating at last:)
I cant believe the shine on her coat, its gorgeous and it feels like silk.
Shes 6wks this saturday..Im getting excited now.
Seska ate her tea tonight! Well, not all of it, but at least she ate some of it :-) I bought some cheap stuff from Lidls, thinking that any food is better than none, and she seemed to be enjoying it. She even told the others to stay away, so must have enjoyed it! Probably back to not eating tomorrow though ;-)

They are a worry arent they? glad both your girls are eating something. Good luck with your litters, not long now Lindylou
I'm getting nervous now ;-) She keeps looking at her back end, but nothing is happening. I would like her to wait another day or two so that my daughter will be home before puppies arrive. Daughter usually spends weekends at her dads but swapped this week so that she could be here for this birth. She missed most of the last litter as she was at school. Not that she was allowed in the whelping room though. Mum didn't want anyone there but me, but at least she knew they were being born :-p Still, she is 3 years older and mum likes her more now :-D (Daughter sometimes feeds her, so she is a friend ;-) )

Yes i get nervous too when getting near due date, Bekki was very very slow, trip to the vet for a jab and emergency section if nothing happened with 2nd puppy being born, thankfully last 3 came quite quick phew!
Good luck, anyday now they'll be here.
Think I might be busy soon ;-) She keeps staring into space, followed by licking, followed by disappearing into the bedroom (mine, not whelping room :-) ) So if you don't hear from me for a while you know where I'll be :-p
Well, we're still here ;-) Nothing happened overnight, she just went to sleep. She is actually running aroud the house just now expecting to go out (another 1/2 hour yet :-p ) so don't think it will be soon. Oh, I hate this waiting..... :-D
