Topic Dog Boards / General / pushchair?

i have an elderly dog who cant walk too far,she makes it to the bottom of the street  to the rec,ok,but id love us to visit some of our old haunts, now and again. As i dont have a car,and all the decent walks are reached via twenty minutes by road,i was considering a pushchair,if i can find a suitable one for a border collie.Years ago i used to carry  tess,my jack russell in a front baby carrier(got some funny looks but who cares?) But20kg of collie might be a  bit heavy!obviously id need something flattish and low,i was thinking of trawling charity shops as moneys tight.I just wondered if anyone else has tried this with a larger dog,and may have any advice?ive seen smaller dogs transported in similar ways.Or am i being ridiculous, and should stick with the rec?

Hi,

I am considering the same idea and also at a loss of where to get what i'm looking for...it sound like i need the same as you.

I have an American cocker spaniel who for 10 days has been fighting for her life in the veterinary hospital and if by some miracle she makes it home want to be able to wheel her around in a low open trolley as she won't be able to walk more than a few feet.

Any idea's would be great.

:)

http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/pet/pet-gear-pet-strollers-pushchairs.htm  here's one place that sells them, but if you Google 'Pet Strollers' it comes up with a few more places :)

How about a childs pram?????
Thats what I have seen numerous times around here :)
And your local freecycle might have some for free.
Good Luck
Lea :)

Thank you.

I have looked at some dog strollers but they seem to be for the smaller dogs, i think i will look on some luggage shop sites.

I dont know if you cycle but you can get second hand bike trailers (for kids to sit in) for next to nothing sometimes. Big enough to transport a BC :).

I'd have thought a Yankee would fit in the dog strollers, but not sure what would work for the BC, good luck!

Just found this site on google

http://www.carryfreedom.com/bamboo.html

you can e-mail the site owner who will send you plans on how to make your own trailer for a bike on the cheap, it also says if you tell them what you intend to use the trailer for they can suggest some modifications to make it more suitable.
