Hi,

Just wondering if anybody has heard of a good outcome on appeals against BVA scores?
The general view seems to be there is no point or do people only talk when the appeal does not give the hoped result?

On the day, the opinion of the lady who took the xrays was my girls elbows are healthy.
I have been told the lady in question is one of the most experienced in taking xrays in the country and this is why we traveled to see her, you can believe my shock when BVA results came back as 2! Hips 0-4 so no issues there...

I myself do not understand elbow xrays, well there are no broken bits or anything very obvious on hers.
I can see the positioning of the leg is slightly different with one leg bent more and also the cap lower down the leg (between the radius and ulna) is not so prominently there with one leg so the angle/direction the xray was taken from seems slightly different with each leg.
I assume this makes no difference as BVA has scored the plates and not sent them back?

Just to add to the stress, the lady who took the xrays is off sick at least until the end of this week... So I have not been able to ask for her to have a another look and explain which area the problem is at as obviously on the day there were no discussions about any issues as her elbows were supposed to be healthy.

So I have been sitting on the xrays for nearly 2 weeks wondering what is wrong and am pulling my hair out and just had to do something!
Hence asking the question on the top to see if there is any real hope if we appeal...

If you are planning to appeal make sure you do before the appeal time expires. I know for eye testing it is 28 days. If it looks as though you will be waiting beyond the expiry of the appeal time, perhaps you could put in an appeal anyway?

The appeal time is 45 days...
I was hoping to get her to have a another look as the person who took the xrays need to fill in the appeal paperwork, so it would be little weird to appeal and only afterwards to ask for her for her opinion now that there is such a difference!

Also, my understanding was I have originals here but I can not see BVA embossing on the xrays, so I must have copies (can't even check this with her!), embossed originals need to go back to BVA if appealing...

Obviously if I can not get in contact with her in time, I might have to put the appeal in anyway and hope her opinion is still the same and she doesn't come to realize she missed something big on the day!

See the blood pressure rising here!!!
