Is it possible to check if an affix exists without going through the process of applying for one?

Sometimes when I can't sleep I play with names in my head and I'm just curious to know if 'my' preferred option is already taken.  I don't really want or need an affix but if I did it would be this one.  If it were 'free' I might apply but I'm not so keen to have one that I could be bothered to find another 5 alternatives.  Does that make sense?

Thanks

You can try asking the kennel club ... probably a case of buying the kennel name book though, sorry can't remember proper name, but look on their publications site and you'll find it there.

If you go on the KC breeders name checker, and put in a name '*your wanted affix* joe bloggs' for instance it will tell you if any part of the name is an affix.http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/registrations/namecheck/Default.aspx

We went to the KC stand at Crufts and they checked there and then whether my preferred affix was taken - which is a good job because I was having a really hard time thinking up a suitable affix :-D   the name wasn't taken so we did the biz there and then :)
