I was just wondering if anyone had anything similar with their dogs. I have a 14 month old SBT who keeps getting a swelling on his ankle joint on one of his front legs. It doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort, nor does it cause him to limp.
It just appears to be a fluid filled swelling under the skin.
It has happened a couple of times before, the second time it happened being after he had been frantically dribbling his ball around the garden (it is a hard plastic ball the size of a football). I thought it may have been caused by him constantly banging his leg on it as he is chasing it however this time he hasn't been playing with his ball, due to the weather. I mentioned it to the vet the last time and he said it seemed possible this was the cause, but did not seem unduly worred about it.
Most of the swelling went down however you could still feel it wasn't quite the same as the other leg. Now it has come up again without him banging it constantly I am wondering if this IS something I should be worrying about.
When it swells up I have put a bag of frozen peas on it in a tea towel for about 10 mins and this seems to take the swelling down a bit.
I am due to take him to the vets this Thursday as he is having blood tests for allergies, so I will mention it to the vet again, but I would be grateful if any of you have experienced anything similar to give me any advice.
Thanks.
