What do people think please.
In the weather we have been having do you think my pom should/needs to wear a coat ? She is half pom half chi so reasonably furrie. If so what makes of coats do cd'sthink are good. Bear in mind she has no problems going out in the garden for ages if the mood her takes 30mins + just mooching about as long as it isn't raining as she hates getting wet . All though daughter and I disagree I prefer no clothes on dogs unless its for their benefit and health and then functional not a la Paris Hilton and as I am paying it won't be diamond studded bling lol
Thank you

never ever used a coat on our Pom's, no need to they have a thick coat that can put up with this weather, in fact their coats are usually a lot better in cold weather conditions.

The only dog that I'm about to put a coat on is my old SWD boy who really isn't in the best of health, normally I don't bother with them either, even when clipped off.  I'm a cruel mum LOL, but actually they don't seem to feel the cold, my youngest adult Spanish was just lay in the snow for 45 minutes last night at 11.30 and loved every second of it.

I use a coat on those dogs that shiver when it's too cold for them. So Dylan, my lurcher, is the only one that wears a coat in this weather! Flash, of similar build being a saluki, doesn't get cold at all and therefore doesn't wear a coat. Neither of course do my long haired yankee and pyr.

So I would just check whether she actually gets cold. If not, there is no reason to put a coat on her.

I do put a coat on three of the dogs when it's snowing or raining because I don't want them to get too wet and then get cold because of it.

i put a trouser suit on my well coated leo but this is for both our benefits, he gets snowballed up and it matts so to prevent him hurting when i have to get them out he wears his suit. but if he objected to wearing it in the slightest i wouldnt put him on, but he acts like he's not wearing it so i dont feel bad about putting it on him

silly question lurchergirl but how do I really know if a dog is cold

Tiger wears a coat in the winter, he gets very cold. I prefer to put one's that cover his chest aswell on him as the hair isnt very thick there. I get my nain to knit jumpers for him, she does them so well and fit him perfect. :-)

sorry had to laugh :)
very hansom in a black shiny suit! Better than making them wear tights for the same purpose :D
Maybe his coat will go little more coarse with age and he will not get snowballed so badly.

I have to say all my Leo girls have always been very good on what ever they have had on and leave things be.
They seen to think if mummy put this on me, there must be a good reason for it...which there often isn't... just entertainment value :)

- By furriefriends Date 15.01.10 10:36 UTC

If anyone finds a beige one, I would love something like that for my buff Yankee - he's ok on normal walks, but when hubby takes him to the Lakes he comes back horribly matted in spite of hubby's efforts to brush! My Cav girl has a black one which being a tricolour looks ok, but hubby very unwilling to let buff dog wear black trouser suit! :-p

http://www.dogsandco.com/ is the only place i could find that do it in 32inch. 30inch would not fit him, thats what everyone seems to consider the biggest. but luckily i found a 32" x
- By Lisakom [gb] Date 15.01.10 11:17 UTC
Thank you....

I think Tangle might need a 32" for now...

Don`t know what I`m going to do when he`s fully corded and twice the size  lol
