My bitch is in pup (7 weeks today) and I have noticed over the last week to ten days she is drinking a lot more water obviously if it gets any worse I will have her looked at by my vet, but I thought I would ask on the forum first to see if anyone else had experienced this.  She has been on Panacur since the fortieth day, don't know if that could have anything to do with it.

She will require more water in her condition and of course may also be getting hot.  If it is really excessive then a trip to the Vet would be a good idea to check blood for kidney function etc, and test fro UTI.  Has she been weeing a lot more?

She has been weeing more but only the ammount you would expect due to increased fluid. I will monitor her closely today and measure the fluid she drinks, it may also be the increased food is making her drink more, probably worrying about nothing. Thank you for your advice.

Do not forget that as the uterine horns may be full of puppies they may well be pressing on the bladder which makes it more difficult for the bitch to hold her urine, mine are usually unable to go through the night and often I have to get up to let them out, but if you are worried a trip to the vet would be advised, to rule out any possible other causes.

would she eat her food soaked? might be a good idea so she is use to it when pups come! as her fluid intake will be even more.
