We have a 6 month old Boxer bitch, I wallk every day with my friend who also has a Boxer bitch who is 4 years old and and is spayed and has not had pups herself, the problem is out on the walks my friend's bitch has started to grab my pup around the neck this goes on for a while then she tries to mate with her, today she also was being stroked just for a minute at my friends home, when she started to perform on the sofa.We have had boxers before of all ages and sexes and never had this behaviour has anyone any ideas of how to control her,she is lovely in every other way. Thank you Debby

This is normal behaviour, though it can be embarrassing when out on walks ;-) The older bitch is just letting the younger one know who is in charge :-) At the moment your bitch is still very much a baby, but the older bitch is realising that she is growing up and just wants to keep her in her place. So long as it doesn't become too much for either bitch, and you aren't too bothered by it, then I would let them get on with it. If it does bother you or either bitch then just let them know you've had enough. I tend to give mine a quick 'OI'! It lets them know to stop, but doesn't upset them.

I wonder if your bitch pup is beginning to get ready to come into season?    The only humping I see in my bitches is in the month before a season is due ;)

Might be worth keeping an eye on your youngster ;)
