Is it possible for a dog to have kennel cough with the only symptom being an intermittent cough once or twice a day for over 4 weeks . Eating fine very active bright eyes no runny nose infact apart from this  cough finishing with a sortof retching sound thats it. No one else dog wise has anything wrong at all ?
Initially I thought it was just the sort of snorting tioy breeds get sometimes when excited then if anything caught in her throat but judging by her continual eating normal food without trouble no.
Have decided a trip to the vet is needed anyone any ideas.

I had a discussion with my Vet recently regarding Lungworm and was advised that dogs are usually presented with a mild cough that they have had for a number of weeks. I think if she was mine, I would definitely get her checked out.

Yes vet on tuesday morning without a doubt. she is so well I hadn't been worrying untill it had been going on a bit too long.

Just to update have been to vet he doesn't think she has bordetella but maybe a less contagious bacteria. he is happy with heart and lungs and everything else appears normal. Has prescibed antibiotics with fingers crossed if it hasn't improved in 10days back with 3 faecal samples for further tests. I queried what to do about my other dog re vaccination but he said kno as he is sure we are not dealing with the the usual bacteria for kennel cough,
