Topic Dog Boards / General / Smoke alarm beep terrifying dogs

The other night our smoke alarm batteries must have been running low,so every 30 seconds or so it let out a high pitch beep,I'm sure you all know what it sounds like.There were 3 dogs in the house at the time,all barked at the beeps and were shaking in fear.
I googled it and came across a few forums describing my dogs reactions,but no answers.Has anyone experienced this before?

my gsd howls if the smoke alarm goes off (burning the toast again) he sometimes does it if the emgency services go past us on "blues" I just assume it hits a certain frequency which hurts gis ears. Funnt the little one doesn't do it.
I don't worry if it keeps beeping change the batteries soon sorts out the dogs

Plwase change the batteries..........do not do without an alarm,if it wasn't for the fact we have an alarm system I might not be here after a fire here during the night back in July. It brought home the very essence of them.    :(

My blind girl hates noise like that, and also phones that beep if you have missed a call, or when the battery is getting low

My alarm was beeping for new batteries earlier,while replacing it, I dropped the damn thing and broke it!! I was already worrying about not having my alarm for the night, this has just made me even more aware :-}

We live near a really busy road,all the blues and noisey motorbikes drive my dogs loopy!
