Why do you suppose that my two dogs who are both fed precisely the same food smell so different.
My boy always smells so good, and his breath while being 'doggy' is sweet.
My girl however smells most unsavoury and her breathis almost fishy, though rarely is there any fish in the diet.

Have you checked her teeth and gums for any infection?
Dogs do vary in the amount of plaque they produce, some have food caught between and behind their teeth which over time causes nasties to form and a bad smell, generally fishy like. Brushing your dogs teeth generally keeps the breath nice and fresh and removes the plaque and bacteria build ups.
If the fishy breath continues though, might be an idea for a vet check sometimes underlying problems can also cause this smell respertory and nasal problems just being one. I take it she hasn't just emptied her anal glands and licked herself has she? Another option.
More likely it is just bacteria, so get the tooth brush out. :-D

I will check them, they eat chicken wings weekly as a tooth cleaning thing, anal glands are not a problem, the under lying respiratory thing sounds very interesting as I alwys felt this was the case due to the strange bark she has, we refer to it as sounding more like a wind up toy rather than a real dog.
The smell though is not just her breath, it's her body odour too.......completly different.

All three of my dogs smell different, not so much breath but body odour. my miniture schnauzer bitch is the worst she only seems to smell nice the day she has a bath.
Could the smell be coming from the anal glands?
