Topic Dog Boards / General / Does anyone buy christmas presents for their dogs?

I do. My 2 dogs have a sqeaky toy each & some rawhide dog chews. Our bitch loves fluffy sqeaky toys she jumps on them, bites & shakes them & wont leave them alone until they are dead, otherwards when the sqeaks broken, & then after that she gives them to us to throw for her.

Our dog will shake them a bit, but he is not as enthusiastic as our bitch who's tail is wagging non stop.
I wrap them up and put them under the christmas tree with all the other presents, & she knows which ones are hers, because she will sniff them all and then lay down where her toys are, wining and looking at us because she wants them now, & if we take no notice she stands in front of us staring at us & wining - she's worse than a child.

On christmas day while we open her present she's wagging her tail like mad, our dog is getting excited but i don't think he knows what for, he's just getting into the spirit of things.

So do you buy christmas presents for your dogs?

yes we do, always,as my two were rescue I dont think they had toys so it took a while to find out what they actually like. They now get into the spirit of it,or at least my boy does,he will open his own presents but my peggy has hers opened for her and always looks disappointed! funny dog though she likes wearing hats,so perhaps I should just buy her one.
For my boy daws,it has to be a fluffy bird of some sort, and only a bird will do.
My sister dropped off my mums present in a hurry and asked if I could re wrap it as her dog had chewed the corner.I had to remove several chewed choclates as well,I dont think my sister realised how much damage there was,but I still re wrapped the present as a joke, cant wait!
Cat gets a toy as well,

Every year ours have had a pile each, husband always muttering under his breath :(  Last year he said to me to wash a couple from one of their toy boxes and wrap them. Never again!!  Dogs were presented with parcels, the old boy ripped one open and then look bemused (I am not joking!) he kept looking at me and then looking at the toy, he sighed and walked off. I felt terrible and to shame my husband I told all our doggy friends who ribbed him and called him unmentionable things..... so this year at LKA I went and bought a new lot with a few extra to make up for his bah humbug last year!!!

our boys love to unwrap their presents... but i'm seriously considering not buying them anything.... spend a small fortune on toys, chews new leads etc and all they want to do it pplay with the paper and packaging and scoot round the laminate flooring inside the boxes. we have made some doggy treats to hang on the tree tho.... high on the tree!!! :-D

Ive hidden their xmas toys in our bedroom, well i thought i had till yesterday, when one of them came running in the lounge with new ball on a rope in her mouth...yes she was so pleased with herself that she got to keep it.
I will have to get something else now and make sure i find a new hiding place.

No I don't buy pressies for dogs or humans :) Xmas is a totally non commercial event - no cards, no tree, no gifts just a wonderful meal, long walk and a spot of Xmas spirt !!

My two both have presents waiting for them, the best bit is seeing them trying to unwrap them, they make more mess than the children!!!! They also get presents from Nanna as well!!! well, they can't be left out now can they........

Mine also get presents from grandma and my son brings them gifts when he arrives.

My older girl is 3 on xmas day,so double gifts for her.
