I have been to asda today and bought my 15 Turkey drumsticks, put them in the freezer and everyone will have one on christmas morning for breakfast, and then for dinner they will all have meat, roast spuds and all the trimmings :)
just out of interest who else is as sad as me :)

mine will have any left overs and usually mum puts aside a bit of turkey for them (as well as chucking bits to them whilst she carves no doubt) but thats as far as we go :)

Possibly even sadder. For two of our boys it will be their first Christmas with us so I am going to make them all little socks filled with treats first (dried tripe stick, anyone?) and then they get Christmas dinner: salmon starter, turkey, green beans, carrots, roast potatoes and parsnips, gravy...Who needs Santa? :-)

I think he will - he's only little so won't eat much!! We've already got his Christmas stocking hanging on the fireplace and presents under the tree for him!
Mine get all the dinner except stuffing. Like many they manage to have a deast whilst meat being carved and the youngest one demands veg as its chopped (lol). I've even made the oldest one her own christmas cake before as well (sad lol).
I'm also sad too, they get their own presents to open at christmas all wrapped as well. My old girl is a dab hand at opening them and this will be the two young ones second so should be fun.

Nope. :-)
Guilty too, you wouldn't believe my house at Christmas, just for the dogs!
I put two legless type pig trough containers in my Conservatory with plastic Christmas table cloths under them, they are then filled with home made Turkey and rice, Chicken and rice and raw chicken wings, along with some bowls of dry dog food, and knuckle bones for desert, so plenty of choice for all the family dogs.
They then all have a big sack of Christmas toys, they are always fed first so that we can check all get their share and use their table manners, and then whilst we are sitting down for our dinner, the dogs are generally relaxed or sleeping with legs in every direction. :-D
In the late afternoon we then all do a lovely Christmas dog walk, it will be fantastic this year if we really do have snow as predicted, won't that be just brilliant?

My 3 will have raw turkey necks, blended xmas veg and a mince pie!
> it will be fantastic this year if we really do have snow as predicted, won't that be just brilliant?
Yes!!! It's fantastic walking in the snow, but to be able to do so on
Christams Day would be lovely :) :)
Buster will have his usual meal with a
little bit of roast beef. If keeping him lean (due to the ED) wasn't an issue he would get lots of left overs, but I know he will be thrilled to bits anyway with just a couple of morsels of beef :)
> and a mince pie!
Mince pies have raisens
(well, sultanas & currents in, but it's still dried grapes)
in them.

not dog mince pies (pastry n mince beef) specially made just once a year!
> not dog mince pies (pastry n mince beef) specially made just once a year!
Ahh, phew! :)
How great that you make them thier own mince pies and with minced beef, I bet they love 'em :)

No doubt the girlies will get a few "treats" They have some dried sausages under the tree and some new toys but they will be getting some veg and gravy with thier dinners and their Daddy will strip the meat off the turkey for them I expect!!! OH always does that job and if we have a joint with a bone he will hold it while three hulking Bernese take turns trying to pull a bit of meat off LOL I worry about his fingers but good manners always prevail and they never argue or snatch and so far he still has all ten fingers and thumbs!! It is quite a sight to watch the three of them all pulling at the same bone and OH hanging on for dear life!! Just to add they never ever get the bone ;) ;)

PS I don't think I would be giving them mince pies...to much of a risk with the dry fruit!

I don't bake often but I do make proper mince pies on xmas eve and save some pastry for the dogs and fill it with mince beef - yes, they love them. It will be my rotty girls first christmas time as she is only 17 weeks old at the mo. Well, its their Christmas too!. LOL
Every Christmas day I always take my dogs for a long walk when the children have opened their presents and usually have an 'emotional moment' thinking how sad it is for all the dogs that are either in rescue or just about to be kicked out when the novelty wears off when bought as xmas presents.
> It will my rotty girls 1st time as she is only 17 weeks old at the mo.
How exciting, her first Christmas :)

Merlot - I did say that my doggie mince pies only contain mince beef!

That made me chuckle, i made that mistake a few years ago and spent the next 3 days with 5 rottweilers trumping away, it was rotten! :)

M&B always have Christmas dinner but I stick to meat and vegetables and no gravy. Brussels sprouts are really good for my dogs and they love 'emx

After my little madame Tinkerbell had 6 of the 9 chocolate Christmas bells hanging from my tree then... NO ! god knows how she got them off without knocking the tree down I'll never know but only kidding... they always have some fresh turkey & raw carrots with there normal biscuits for a little treat.

the best part about xmas is giving the dogs their xmas dinner.... the look on their face as you are preparing it is a picture

We have to be a bit careful with Stitch and leftovers as he's got quite a sensitive tum, and it doesn't take much to make him loose, so I usually blend together a bolied carrot and a couple of small slices of turkey with some warm water to make a 'gravy' to go over his dinner, which he loves, and we don't have to suffer the smelly after effects of richer treats :-D
He always has a pressie or 2 under the tree, normally a couple of new toys, and he's quite good a tearing open the paper with his paw when you give him the pressie too! :-)

We have a roast dinner every sunday and the woofits all get a share of the leftovers. If I'm perfectly honest I do get a slightly larger joint and more veggies than we need to ensure they always get something. So on this basis Christmas day will be no different, they will get a dinner with all the (leftover) trimmings.
HAvent' convinced OH to get presents for them yet, they "kill" any fluffy or squeeky toys they get within about 30 seconds, so it's hard to justify the expense - even though they seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves in the process.
Mine wouldn't normally get Christmas dinner (or any other 'human' food) because one has a terrible weight problem but I'm away this Christmas so I quite expect my regular dogsitter to indulge them and give them some treats. I always come home to an overweight dog when I've been away for more than a few days.

How about second hand stuffed-toys from a car-boot sale? Or even, putting a few treats (biscuits/bonios etc.) in a cardboard box (eg. cereal box), wrapping that up in Christmas wrapping paper and they can enjoy opening the 'present, tearing up the cardboard and eating the goodies, and it's wont cost :)

I've done that his year - I'll have five dogs in the house and things are a bit tight so have got them all doggie safe toys from the charity shop - the woman came over and asked said 'can I help dear' in a very, your a bit dim aren't you, way when I'd spent ten minutes taking them all out and squeezing each on and checking eyes etc :-D Got them all a toy for destuffing for a fiver.
You've all convinced me to do them a Christmas dinner too - I'm veggie so it will just be for the dogs but I don't mind cooking meat for them. I'll have to be home most of Christmas day anyway as I have a new girlie that is too scared of traveling and strange places at the mo to go any where so might as wll do them all a yummy Christmas dinner and they can enjoy that while I hit the mulled wine :-D

My girls always get the full cooked lunch (not lunch as we never end up sitting down until late afternoon so it is always dinner :-D )
We have ordered our meat this evening with our friend who is also a butcher and we have increased the weight of the joints to take into consideration that we have three hungry Labs and two cats that will be at the dinner table although on the floor :-D

We always go to family for dinner and not allowed to take the dogs, so no they won't get any actual Xmas dinner or left overs :-(
They will instead get tripe sticks and bones to chew on while we are out having dinner!!
