I noticed my vet advertising a pamper. The dog goes for a swim in the pool then gets bathed and nails trimmed. Im thinking of treaing Amy but shes never been in a pool. Just wondering  how She would get on. What do you think. Shes a 6yr old  rough collie

im sure she'd love it after the first 5 mins... really good exercise for them, i only wish i could afford to take my boy every day, he'd be built like an out house if i did.... his coat would be rubbish tho lol

My 7yr old loves the pool :-) I wish I could afford for her to go a lot more too.

That sounds nice, hope Amy has a nice time :-)

sorry but it sounds like anthropomorphism gone mad to me!!! if a dog isnt used to swimming then they may well hate it....and as for"being bathed & having their nails done"???!!!  well thats most dogs nightmare :( :( Im sure if you wanted to "pamper" your dog then an extra long walk and a cuddle on the sofa would go down much much better with the dog!

My pooches idea of a pamper would probably be:

1) Walk to the nearest field with a river
2) Swim in river (should ideally be more of a swamp than a river)
3) Shake all over nearest person
4) Find nice wet cow pat - roll in it
5) (repeat step 3)
6) Go home
7) lay on nice clean sofa and recover

I take my 3 rotties to a hydrotherapy pool, and each of them react differently. My eldest had to go initially as rehabilitation after crutiate surgery (both legs), and we started to take my boy as we can't let him off lead to free run due to behavioural issues. My middle girl didn't like it at all to start with, yet she's the one who actively seeks out puddles etc we thought she'd love it, but the first time she tried to get out the side of the pool.

Both girls now swim OK without fretting, although i wouldn't say they particularly enjoy it yet, my boy on the other hand absolutely adores his swimming sessions, so much so that he will even tolerate strange people and dogs in the room with him (they'll be taken into shower etc) whilst he's in the pool. Ordinarily he would be trying to get at them.

So what I'm trying to say is, she might love it or she might hate it.

Thanks for all your comments. Shes just been to the grooming salon . Thought the pool etc would make a change. Maybe ay 6 it would be a big step taking her swimming. Shes as happy with a good walk n cuddles. Dont want to cause Amy any stress
