i cannot believe how many adverts i have seen advertising puppies to be collected xmas eve, xmas day etc... what a surprise they are all "designer dogs" with "designer pricetags"! it never ceases to amaze me just how irresponsible some people are!!!!!
Maybe after over a decade in rescue I have become cynical and not many of those ads get to me anymore. However, I've seen one the other day that made my eyes well up: "CLEARANCE SALE! 3 XYZ bitches and matching stud dog, they will provide you with a nice tighty income. Ages: 1 year to 14 (!!) years."

The last litter that we bred (back in 2003) were 8 weeks at the beginning of Christmas week - although they were all spoken for, they stayed with us until after the new year .
How awful, I seen ad's for my breed and it just makes me feel sick it really does...but to me the general public have a big part to play in all of this, no responsible breeder in their right mind would allow a puppy to go to a new home right on Christmas surely this must tell people the fact these so called breeders are advertising these puppies like this should sound alarm bells that something is wrong???
You've not heard the Smooth Radio adverts then? They have been advertising pedigree puppies for Christmas from Dogs R Us in Manchester!!! I know lots of people have contacted Smooth re their standards and requesting them to remove the advert, but the station continued to advertise saying they had no rules about advertising dogs for sale! I'm not sure whether they are still advertising puppy farm wholesalers Dogs R Us or not. Christmas is big business for the world of puppy farming.
Real Radio (same company as Smooth) used do this, so I got a lot of people to write in and complain -they didn't care. I'll never listen to them again. I now listen to a local station, Lincs FM, where they often send out messages about lost cats and dogs -but never advertise puppies. Now THAT I do like -good on them!
