Ok so puppies were whelped nearly 4 weeks ago. Bitch has been fine and just 'spotting' slightly. This has gotten much worse over the last few days and we have bright red blood and quite a lot of it. Anyway to cut a long story short my bitch has 'subinvolution'. My vet explained it that its were the placenta sites are not repairing and so the bitch bleeds alot. Apparently its quite a rare condition - hes only seen it a handful of times in the 25 years plus hes been in practice - and the text books apparently say treatment is usually a hysterectomy. Under my vets recommendation we are trying antibiotics. Any one else had experience of this??
