Someone has told me that children allergic to dogs are less sensitive to either a dog or a bitch. Anyone heard of this, and if so which sex is less allergenic.

It is just possible that there may be some truth in this, as most people who are allergic to dogs are affected by the dead skin cells (dander) that the dog looses and bitches loose coat more often that most males. I am thinking that perhaps the act of loosing hair may increase the loss of dead skin and if so the bitches may cause more problem than the dog. This would not hold good with spayed dogs or bitches as the coat, coat loss and in fact the skin often changes in the nutered dog. Ja:)kie

You might be on to something there. I have no idea about allergies to dog breeds. But for some strange reason, I know quite a few friends who are usually severely allergic to dogs. But strangely enough they can handle my two bitches for hours without any reactions. Everyone is always amazed about it. I just never really thought anything of it. :O

Both were spayed years ago. Samma at abt. 7 months, Chienne at 4 1/2 months old. The lack of allergic reaction can't just be due to their breed since they're not the same and have completely different coats. They even use different shampoo. :)
Samma would have a wiry coat if I hadn't surrendered and have her clipped about every 6 weeks. She'll drop occasionally, but more like a person's hair than fur. Chienne has a short black coat about 1 1/2 inches long like a lab. She sheds like crazy, esp. when nervous :rolleyes:
