Hi Folks,

Well the big boy has gone in for his pre op run ups in prep for his hip replacement tomorrow. I had major wobbles today copious amounts of tears and stuff, (Yuk)

Anyway will begin his blog on my own website to chart his treatment/progress today if anyone is interested in following :).

Will know approx 7pm tomorrow if he is safely out of anaesthetic , for those  believers amongst us prayers all gratefully received  for the rest fingers/toes crossed and best wishes gratefully accepted.

Thanks in advance

Well my baby is home, actually snoring in the middle of the room at the mo.
The op went very well, better than we could have hoped took 2.5 hours, instead of the expected 4hrs!!!
He came out of the anaesthetic well, and he has been weight bearing since day 2 (doing too well for vets liking). He is having two 5 min walks per day.

Apparently he was very good during his in stay, the vet was telling us when the other dogs were upset he was telling them it was OK and he was a positive and calming presence on the other patients, which is one of the reasons he is a very special boy and why hopefully he will be able to pass his pet therapy assessment when we get back to UK next year, he does seem to have a sixth sense for things.

The wound looks very neat, had stitches out at our own vet at the weekend, as usual she made a huge fuss over him, he is due to see her at the weekend for a check before Christmas, and back to specialist at the New Year to X- Ray and book him in for second replacement if everything is OK. Fingers crossed that he will continue to recover well, although he is missing going to bed, and the real test will be when the boys come home Wed for Christmas, keeping him quiet enough will be hard, but I will do my best and i have sedatives if i need to use them.

I am constantly tired at the mo, it is like having a newborn/pups as he needs constant supervision, but he is more than worth it. :), and I have it all to do again in a couple of months time, but happy to do it .
