Hi guys,

Its soo hard at the minute getting a decent teaching post but I should be thankfull I am in a job already and am in a  position to look around.

Oh poor you , i have got an interview a week on Monday and i am dreading it hanging over me for the next week or so !
The last job i went for i didn't get and i felt very sorry for myself , however i was disgusted that i was asked ' if you were a fruit , what would you be and why ? '  and this was a job as a qualified nurse . Ask me about local or Government policy , but not fruit . If i get asked that again i may walk out in disgust !!!
To spend so much time researching for the job/interview and it be a waste is soul destroying !  And i don't for one minute think i will get it so it seems a real waste of my time .

Hang onto the job you have got as it is really hard out there !!!

What??? Ridiculous..

sour grape  or crab apple by the way!!!

A fruit!!! That question would have completely thrown me. Even after sitting here thinking about it for a few minutes I've still no idea what fruit I'd choose to be. I suppose its one of those questions where your answer would supposedly have led them to discovering your personailty. Mad.

As for interviews I hate them too but the only word of advice I can give is to look the interviewer straight in the eyes. No avoiding their gaze as it makes you look unconfident. Had this said to a friend of mine who always looks slightly to the right of who shes talking to. Can't meet peoples eyes at all. :)

Apparently the answer depends upon what job you are going for , so a nurse would choose something firm on the outside but with a soft centre .  Someone else told me that there is no wrong answer , but you have to give an answer !?!?!

Well i was totally gob-smacked by that question and laughed , and the only answer i could think of was an apple because they are low calorie and i need to loose some weight !!!!!!     No wonder i didn't get the job !!!

That made me laugh girls!!
I spent about 2 weeks preparing finding out about the school ethos all that...and the questions that came up where very straight forward just me messing the first one up thinking they where going to throw some right whoppers at me!! lol I'll just have to keep at it!!

I must be a bit strange then because I actually like interviews.  I'm in the process of changing jobs & last week had 2 job interviews in 2 days for 2 different positions & by the of the week had....2 job offers!!!  I've taken one of the positions & am just working our my notice.  I've always gone into them as relaxed as possible & tried to be myself & give them a good idea about me as a person not just another candidate.  I guess applying for roles similar to those I've been doing for the past 6 years help, tons of knowledge & experiences etc.

The only advice I can give is be yourself & don't be tempted to embelish or lie about stuff, you will get caught at some point & if the interviewer can read your body language they'll know straight away.

Good luck for any future interviews.

PS I'd be a grape - a very verstaile fruit e.g can be turned into wine, had with cheese etc - you get the picture!

Like your way of thinking!!

Ok an apple then, so I could be turned into cider. Lovely.

Id be a gooseberry - prickly on the outside, soft in the middle.

My immediate retort would have been  'I'd be and orange and if you peeled me I'd spit in you eye, obviously not a job winner :(
