Forgive me asking what's probably a stupid question. I've kind of got my head around getting points for JWs and ShCH but I can't for Stud book numbers other than on the back of the higher awards.... If a dog is Stud book band E, where/how do you get a SB number?

Says she living in hope that the new puppy might get placed once in a while.

Band E is 1st,2nd or 3rd in Limit or Open at Champ shows and I think if the dog gets its JW that also qualify's for the stud book.

Limit and Open in band E breeds are usually the hardest classes, full of ticket winners & champs so it's a great feeling to be placed in the top 3 of those classes :)

I wouldn't put a puppy in limit or open though, my boy has only just gone into limit and he's only 2 1/5 which i still think is too young but he's out of Post grad so has to go in limit.

ETA - it's not a stupid question lol theres alot to learn and if you don't ask you'll never know :)

You can also gain your stud book number from your first CC or reserve CC!

Ahhhh did you hear the penny drop.....

I read it as 1st 2nd or 3rd in a Limit, Open OR Championship SHOWS and thought it couldn't be THAT easy or there would be loads of entries in the stud book..

Does it matter how many entries as with other awards and is one place in those classes sufficient and does it matter whether there is a CC on offer ?

So if you happened to be 3rd out of 3 in a Limit class (Champ show) and were never in the top three ever again = Stud book number ? I've still got the 2 year old going but don't think she'll ever get placed in these classes so looking ahead.

lol Oh yeah forgot to add you can get a stud book number from a CC or RCC lol so many details that you know yet you just forget them when some one asks.

Yep you do need to have CC's on offer at the show. No it's doesn't matter how many entries there are. If you got 3rd out of 3 in Limit or Open you'd still get the stud book qualification.

Yes, we were hoping for that with my girl, she's good at open shows, has several BOB, but never gets a look in at Champ shows, so 3rd of 3 is our only real hope. We nearly did it at Scotland, only 4 in Open Bitch - but the others were all champions, lol! Oh well, perhaps if I ever get a puppy out of her.... :-)
