Hi

We got our 2nd cocker spaniel puppy on 18th September.   As yet I have not received the papers
from the Breeder re the Kennel Club, to change ownership.  When we picked up Sam she said
she hadn't received the documents but they should be arriving within the next couple of days.

After 3 weeks I telephoned her and she said the documents were sitting in the PO waiting to
get picked up!!!   I then e-mailed her last week asking where the documents were.   No reply.

We received a nice wee booklet with Sam's pedigree all typed out, but we want his Kennel
Club papers.  Am I expecting too much too soon.

Would welcome your comments.   Thanks in anticipation.

As you have his parents names then why don't you phone the kennel club and ask if the litter was registered? They will also tell you when they posted out the documents to the breeder (if registered)

Once you've done this you could then get in touch with the breeder and let them know that you have contacted the KC and that you are thinking of getting in touch with trading standards (assuming that the litter was advertised as being KC registered). Then sit back and wait to see what happens.

OK I will do that and see what happens.

The breeder is on champdogs, but Sams particular litter is not on.  When I asked her why, she said that all puppies
were sold and there was no need.  Perhaps its just me, but something doesn't seem right.

The lady we got Holly from (20 months ago) was spot on and everything went great.

As already stated a quick check with the KC re: the litter registration will allay your initial fears that they have been registered. I hope that all is then well with your peace of mind.

Then it is purely down to the breeder for some reason not getting their finger out.

Unless there are complications I've never understood the pure laziness of some breeders, not having the KC papers ready on collection with the pups, to me it is unnaceptable they take a few days to be delivered once registered.  The KC transfer papers and pedigrees in many cases show the puppy owner that all is well and that they have their pedigree pup within the rules of the KC which is why the breeder is sought out by the puppies owner in the first place, why some are then denied the proof of this and made to wait I just don't understand, of course it is important that the new owner has the transfer details, the free insurance and the pedigree on collection, that's why they went to the breeder in the first place.

I feel very sorry for you that you are left waiting and wondering - totally unacceptable IMO.

If the litter has not been registered and you are being bluffed, then trading standards and the KC need to be told immediately - hope this is not the case. :-)

Have e-mailed the KC with all Sam's particulars (that we have) so will let you know
what the outcome is.

Thanks

Why would the papers be at the PO unless she doesn't have a post box, as they do not have to be signed for etc.

Did you get it in writing that KC papers would follow.  If I don't have them I always sign paperwork to say that they will be sent to owners ASAP.

There is no excuse why the breeder haven't passed the KC reg. document on to you.  They should have been given to you when you collected your pup, or at the very least posted onto you very shortly afterwards.

I hope this is just a genuine 'blip' and your puppy is registered with the KC, as the breeder told you.  Let us know the outcome.

She said that the KC hadn't put the correct postage on the envelope!!!!!   I felt that something
wasn't right when she said that.   But I gave the benefit of the doubt.

No unfortunately we didn't get anything in writing re KC registered.  Once again I trusted the lady.
She was actually recommended by the Breeder we got Holly from, cause we were looking for
a Black and Tan dog.

I will keep you informed of the outcome.

Umm sounds rather suspicious seeing that the envelopes are the same size for every registration so there should be no error in the postage amount!!!  Phone the KC and check that a litter has been registered for the dam and sire on the date specified for the date of birth.

> The breeder is on champdogs,

Please dont forget to inform admin on this website. People often say to me that they got my number from that reputable website?! But there are all sorts.

Hi everyone

Just been on to Kennel Club and Sam's litter was registered with them.   Paperwork was sent out in October.
(We collected Sam on 19 September)
So what with the postal strike etc there seems to have been a hold up!!
I have been advised to wait until next week and send a 'friendly' e-mail with pictures of Sam and then
mention the papers.

Many thanks to you all for your advice!!

We had a similar problem when we bought in our new pup recently but I trusted the breeder 100% when she finally got the KC registration documents (KC error not breeder), rather than risk putting them in the post again to me, I just asked for the details on the front and re-registered online, had the new papers arrive within a week, even with the postal strike.

Good luck

So glad to hear that there is a real excuse for the delay :-) Let's hope it's not too long for the paperwork to come through.

Glad to hear it is a good outcome as we all worry in case it is the breeder that is at fault.
