Hi, when I groomed Polo for show (he's now clipped short and goes to a groomer) I used a shampoo by Dezynadog which was really good and kept the coat in great condition. It's not marketed as just for poodles, but works really well ; http://www.dezynadog.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=896

There is a new shampoo just in the country called K9 Competition, I have just used it on my show dogs and have to say I am very pleased with the results, it is only available from Technogroom but they do phone and internet orders.  What I would say is just buy the smallest sample sizes of whatever shampoo you want to try until you can see how it works on your poodles hair.  I have found shampoos that make one poodles coat amazing just havn't worked on another poodles coat.  What I will say about the new K9 shampoo is that it seems to keep the coat straighter for longer so the trim holds its shape better.  Its trial and error to find out what one suits your dog.

I would say that you would be best to find something that does not make the coat soft as this is classed as a fault by many judges. I used to bathe mine with fairy liquid a couple of days before a show.
