Hi, a while since I have been on.  I got valuable advice from here when I bought my Lakie (Grace) who is now 7 months old.  She settled through the night with a large open crate attached to a large puppy pen (after a while of ignored howling - as advised!)  However, we have now taken the pen down, left the open crate (which she enjoys being in) and now close the kitchen door when we go to bed.  She has started barking AGAIN through the night, if I come down she darts into the living room straight onto the sofa.  I check if she needs to go out, put her back without talking to her, 1 hour later off she goes again.  This goes on all night and has been for a week now.  Help!  (I know she would sleep all night if I left her on sofa but is this wise?)  Oh, she has also started having a poo through the night - what is going on - she is housetrained now.  Many thanks everyone!

sounds like the change of routine with her sleeping arrangements has upset the apple cart, so i would go back to what you did before. is there a reason you took the pen down?
if you can't have the pen again then she will take a while to get used to things not being the same so your have to go back to basics and treat her like you did before to stop the barking.
you could try putting a dog gate up instead of shutting the kitchen door, then she want feel closed away so much or if you can trust her then it's up to you if you let her sleep in the lounge or not.
i like to know my dogs are safe in the utility for bed as it means i know what their up to and also i don't want doggy smells all over the furniture but again thats my choice.
As for the toileting again i think this is because of the change you've made and at 7 months she is still a baby so you just need to go back to basics and reward the toileting in the garden and ignore the accidents. i'd say she is a little stressed if she's pooing at night but this will settle down once she gets used to the situation. whatever happens don't tell her off when she poos as this will make things worst.

I had a  Staffy that developed this habit.  He hated water - so I would go down, squirt him with a water pistol, go back to bed.   He soon stopped.

A lot of dogs at this time of year are upset by the bangs of the fireworks going off at all hours.

She could be coming into season....hormones etc will do all sorts of strange things.

Many thanks for all your replies.  Have decided to let her sleep on sofa all night.  I was just a bit worried she would get up and chew something!  But so far, so good.  Only one accident through the night.  And yeah, never thought it could be hormones - she has been going to the toilet alot more recently.

she has been going to the toilet alot more recently.

In that case you might also want to have her checked by a vet as urinary infections could cause increased toiletting.
