Contact the breed club for a puppy/breeder list on 01526 860087 and have a word with the secretary Mrs.McGrann :-)
Does anyone know.. is there a new TV advert or something featuring a miniature schnauzer?

Hi,
Strange you should say that.
We bought our mini in July last year, not really having taken any notice of the breed before (always had boxers previously for 36 years), but after a 2 year break from owning a dog and a camping holiday in the New Forest, we decided that this was the dog for us. (the forest was overrun with them) We spoke to a lot of owners about the breed (it seems a lot of them are hairdressers, I am,)! and visited several breeders as we did not know enough of the breeds personality traits (I have 2 young childeren) to buy blind, and then thought we would like to join the club so to speak.
Anyway I'm wandering,,, since we have had Zak there seems to be countless TV sightings, one advert for a furniture store has a very appealing dog, a computer advert also has one with a little boy, and I believe that a leading dog food advert with an older man exercising and the two of them blending together has used a mini.
Can't tell that hubby is in advertising can you???
Strange because when we bought our last boxer it was at the time of George the boxer , advertising a casserole sauce for a famous company. Strange/worrying as the breed had a lot of impulse buyers who seemed to think that it would be a good idea to have a George in their home. I was told that the breed rescue did a roaring trade approximately 12 months after that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think this explains the amount of 'I want a schnauzer puppy' listings on this site?????????/
Still it seems that the advice I have given these people, ie. to go to the shop that sells hens lips and rocking horse poo is just about right, there does not seem to be an abundant source of these wonderful little dogs for people to buy and throw away like the boxers. Lets hope that the time it takes to get a pup will sort the impulse buyers from the commited fans.

In a word .. YES! Thank you for the info. I very rarely watch TV these days :-)
Media attention is probably one of the worst things that can happen to any breed of dog. Look what happened to the OES and the labrador :-(

Hi Leigh,
Have you got mini schnauzers at all?

Nooooooooo, I have GSP's and a bracco at the moment.
I must say that I have always admired the Schnauzers. They look like real characters :-)

Maybe Walls would like to use the Slug as an advert for their Mivvies?
Just a thought
:D

Hi Melody,
Just in case they do, I have a lovely litter of slugs that should be ready about mid september, they are tan and black and sell for around £450.
Are you allowed to advertise on this board???????????????????????

Nope
Are you thinking that the Slug is a Schnauzer?
Melody :)

Melody!!!!!!!!!
Have you no sense of humour, a slug is a tan and black garden mollusc!!!!!!!!
However if one was used in an advert I am sure that the general public would want to own a designer one.
I am yet to get to grips with the jargon and banter on this site, is the Slug in your message about Walls advertising, in fact a dog???????
Oh I'm really confused now.
I won't try to sell my designer slugs on this site again, I promise!!! lol.

Leigh, help,!!!!!!!
ROTFLOL
I would like to think this is rolling on the floor laughing out loud, am i right by any chance????????
I shall have to get a dictionary of abreviations or a complex killer, one of the two.
Please tell me your breed of dog unless its a secret.
My guess, orange and white, Basenji, (sp)? although I'm not sure they are Italian, in fact I'm pretty sure that they're not, and the breed Spinolli (a desperate guess as I dont know what they look like but they sound Itallian).
Seriously though, is there anywhere on the site that you can read the other members portfolio details, if there is I would like a quick scroll through to make me feel a bit less conspicuous (sp)??????????????? If there isnt why did I fill my details in??

See?
My sense of humour is intact ..you just didn't know all the facts :D

ROTFLOL = rolling on the floor laughing out loud ;-)
The infamous * Idle Italian Slug* is my Bracco Italiano (Italian Pointer) who was called Alberto by his breeder, but now has been shortened to *The Idle Italian Slug* ;-)
If you click on peoples names, you can read their profiles.
If you have a look in the main site:
Champdogs.co.uk you will find a list of all the different breeds in each group. The bracco is listed under gundog. I would tell you that the photo of the bracco is my
idle italian slug, but if I did, I would have to edit this post and then write myself a stroppy letter about the
Terms of Service. So I won't say that ok ;-)

"real characters " You betcha, Leigh, Min Schnauzers are!!! Not for the faint hearted either. Once upon a time, they were bred with terriers to get smaller than their siblings (Standard and Giants). Their personalities really reflect it :)
Never met an unhappy one, unless seriously ill. My mom and grandmother have had each a pair at a time going for over 20 years (foundlings, new puppies, and rehomers in the bunch). My grandmother no longer has dogs (age and health -- but a grateful and formerly feral cat has adopted her to become an amazingly perfectly behaved kitty :) )
When hubby and I last visited home, Laird liked to lay in wait for us to come around back to the downstairs door. Unfortunately, his prime chosen spot was on the corner of the deck, just at ear level. We would be in the yard for 5 or so minutes, but he would wait for me to pass by and "Bugle" loudly in my ear. Made me jump every time!! And that dog could laugh. Very embarrassing to be laughed at by a dog
Much as I love the breed, they're not for me. We don't have the right "personalities" to mesh well in a permanent household situation. :)
toodles
