WE ARE TRYING TO FIND A RED & WHITE BITCH PUPPPY.
WE ALREADY HAVE A BLUE MERLE DOG WHO IS 20 WEEKS AND WOULD LIKE A BITCH AS A PET WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF BREEDING.
WE LIVE IN NOTTINGHAM. IF ANYONE CAN HELP WE WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL.

Breeding should not be contemplated until you have done a lot of study.

Border Collies have a huge resue problem, due to the problems in farming industry, and also people not realising what a lot of work they need.

Also they have a whole raft of hereitary eye conditions that need checking for, and when breeding with Merles a lot of knowledge is required as Merls should not be bred to Merle, as it is a semi lethal gene, and can mean some health Issues if not sone corectly.

Enjoy your pup for at least the next two years, learn lots more about the breed, and leave all ideas of breeding to those who have put in the study, and have some expertise.

Sorry to sound harsh, but I see lots of young badly bred collies at the class I help at, that are deaf or have poor temperaments, as the breeder has found it so easy to find a dog around the corner to mate his bitch to. The poor owner comes to class with a bag of nerves hyper little bundle, and there is no breeder to give the required advice and back up. the dogs home is also full of them around our way.

Hi where did you get your pup? is he registered ? has he had his eyes checked? Were his parents hipscored also has he been BEAR hearing tested ? Sorry may seem like alot of questions but a good Border Collie breeder would know the answers to these questions and more? then comes the question of colours why a red and white bitch to put to a blue merle dog? what would you achieve?I love the Border Collie it is my chosen breed but they are not the easiest of dogs they are sometimes too intelligent for there own good and you must stay astep ahead all the time.Enjoy your boy train him and have fun with him and if in the future you feel you would like a companion for him then by all means look for one But breeding should not be undertaken lightly and at this stage you cannot tell what he is going to turn out like.Best Wishes Gillian
