nope not really. i dont have a remote to retune it was eaten a long time ago. will need to shop for a new one in the next few days i suppose

Nope - as I understand it all you need to do is unplug the box, plug it in again and follow the on-screen instructions, just like when you buy a new one.

I havent got a freeview box, ive got a freeview television, the shop we bought it from did it first time when they set it up,looks like they might have to do it again.

but you have a remote yeh? a message keeps popping up on my tv the last few days telling me to push coloured buttons. it then gives you directions of what to do!

Yes, i got the message once on tv tonight......since we bought the television last year every now and again it has a message saying do you want to update your PR list, yes or no, ....i always press no as i dont even know what a PR list is? re tomorrow,I wonder if i do mess it up would someone be able to correct it for us?

Thankyou, will go and have a read now.
Nope - as I understand it all you need to do is unplug the box, plug it in again and follow the on-screen instructions, just like when you buy a new one. Depends on what type you've got -some hard drive recorders will keep their memory when unplugged. But then all you do is pick Set Up and go back to the factory settings, much like you would do with a computer, and it will search for the channels again.
I'm just so sick and tired of the pop up messages :-( Every time I change channel. or surf the channels I have to push the yellow button. I'll be so glasd when it is all done and dusted.
Ha me too! Especially when you can't find the remote! I think my tv should be okay as with many others with freeview tv as you just do a new install which if you press the menu button most remotes for DTV (digital) it should give you the options i'd have thought??
Just done mine glad to say it was very easy !

I did mine at about 12.30; very straightforward. :-)

We have my parents old freeview box, no pop up messages though so im wondering if its too old and we will have to get a new one ? not a great issue because we have Sky+ in the living room, just handy if we want to go to bed early to watch something.

Stressed, no. Fed up yes as even after we re-tuned as instructed the ITV and C4 channels are still so poor you can't watch them. I really hope the signal improves before they switch everything over :-(

Me too.. This week my youngster destroyed mine, no other freeview remote works. Think i may have to get another box.
Does that mean terrestrial TV has now gone?
Not yet turned on my TV..

no i still have tv, altho i have lost a few digital channels.
the remotes can be replaced if you order online but they are more expensive than a new box.
you can get a whole new box for 20 from asda

Did my mum and dad's upstairs one yesterday and all was fine. My normal TV without digital seems to be working still at the mo. in my bedroom. They have said if you haven't got certain channels to do it again.
>Does that mean terrestrial TV has now gone?
No, just that some digital TV channels have moved bandwidth or something so aren't where they used to be; a bit like the way supermarkets occasionally rearrange the store layout and you need to find everything again. Analogue channels (much more reliable IME - you can still watch them when it's raining!) haven't changed.

> you can still watch them when it's raining!
Oh yes, when the weather is really good, lovely sunshine we can't get ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 or Channel 4 on digital. sure there are a few more.. Keep looking at Sky as i'd like to be able to watch all the shows when i choose not when the weather dictates

sky can be just as tempermental with the weather sue - esp. heavy rain!!
Must admit we have both sky and freeview (came with tv's!) - Ken has retuned both tv's yesterday but as a result the sky won't work in the bedroom now! so he has to sort that! Leave him to it ha ha - although I know he is going to have hassle with that as he couldn't sort it when we moved in !

Mine are done at last, the bedroom tv was easy and done in minutes but the main tv was a pain as it's got 3 menu buttons on it grrr!! We've got Sky on the main tv but when we go digital in November i wanted to still watch Granada and our Sky has ITV Wales but digi keeps granada (we live in wales but haven't been able to get welsh tv till we got sky) I tuned Granada in on the Sky box but because its a manual tune it's not assigned a channel number so got to go through the sky menus to get it. Why can't anything be easy, LOL
Ok, I retuned mine twice yesterday, put on the telly this morning to get a message you need to retune.... AAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;-)

My computer was in shop yesterday so couldnt go online and i didnt want to use the phone number given on how to retune,so found how to do it on bbc page on the television.Wrote down what to do from the bbc instructions and tried it but all the wording instructions were different to what actually came up so i got the tv manual out, i still had to guess a couple of yes's or no's but did it myself and was really pleased. :)
I have just noticed i have gained a couple of extra channels and not lost any!

Yes me too!
