Topic Dog Boards / General / Quick Pet Passport question

I'm sure someone will know the answer on here!

If an animal has been given it's rabies vaccination, titre test taken & the results back on 12th June (Idexx Labs paperwork), can the animal then enter the UK on December 12th?

it is 6 months from the date the blood was taken that yielded the sufficient titre result.

That is for return to UK.

You do have to watch out for what rules other countries have for entry as for example Norway and Sweden the blood titre blood test must be taken not less than 5 months and not more than 364 days since a Rabies vaccination, so you couldn't travel through Europe to Norway with a dog with valid Pet Passport where the blood test was done only a short time after vaccination (usual protocol here 30 days).

When we came back to live in the UK from Germany last year I had to ask DEFRA that question as we were in that situation of it being 6 months exactly and they said yes she will be allowed and she was.

Christine you can now count on the 14th instead what with the weekend making it difficult to get worming etc done by a vet. ;) . So no worries!

I should've just asked you, Marianne.  I have the Indexx Lab paperwork if anyone wants to verify it.  We're talking about the Netherlands.

I've just thought - this will get tongues wagging - people will be waiting to see my new Munster!   Going to have to string this one along I think!

As Brainless says, an animal can enter the UK 6 months from the date the blood sample was taken that gave the satisfactory titre result, not when it was tested or when you got the results.

They won't find it large!!

And the coat texture may be a little bit incorrect!  ;-)

Silly me, I told you I'm an ignoramus about this.  I checked the paperwork and it says 'Date of sample & microchip reading 12-06-09'.   So I'm assuming 12th December onwards is ok to come here?

Yep. I'd personally leave it till the 13th, just to be on the safe side (in case you get a Jobsworth at Customs).

That is in the hands of my LOVELY friend who breeds & shows Persian's, Exotics, Malinois & Papillons!

Entered YCCC too, Marianne so I hope you know where all the good dog walks are in the area as I will have M&C with me too.

Oh we will finally meet!!! Well the Dome isn't exactly THE nicest location as far as dog walks go, but there are areas around it where you can go for some short walks, or if you want a longer walk, a short drive, yes I do know them all as I used to live just 5 mins walk from the venue. (Now we're 40 mins away.) I'll def. be there as have 3 entered.

Long walk definitely!  Got 2+ hours to kill.
