Hopefully someone can help.  With regards employment law, are all Public Sector jobs legally required to be advertised (whether internally or externally)?  I seem to have it in my head that Private Sector don't have to advertise everything, but that Public Sector must advertise at least internally.

If someone would be so kind as to put me out of my misery I'd appreciate it :-)

Not sure of the answer but if you google for the ACAS site they have a wealth of information regarding employment law.

To be quick the answer is no they don't.    The only twist to this would be in there is some written agreement, IE in a handbook.  Were this would come in is all employees must be treated and given the same opportunity.  Legally though as a general rule NO.
