A while back we were talking about the breeds change in appearance over the years and there was a link posted with pictures of all the breeds. ive searched and cant find it, can anyone help me out?

Some great Norwegian Elkhound footage, and the Peke at the end was as I rember seeign tehm as a child as Pets in Poland, much like a heavier Tibetan Spaniel.

When people talk about the GSDs that when BIS they see them through rose coloured glasses Fenton of Kentwood has his tail between his legs !!!!

I think seeing moving pictures much more informative than the photos.  The bloodhound didn't look impressed with the whole Sherlock Holmes set up.

Well he certainly didn't like all the lights, seemed very soft in body condition too.

He was like most of the dogs of the time, nervous, soft in body & as I was there at the time totally unsound ! As were Hendrawen's Nibelung of Charavigne(by Hendrawens Quadrille of Eveley-a known epileptic) & Ramacon Swashbuckler

Does anyone know of any film footage of German GSDs of around the same time?
Also of any of the GSDs in Germany in the 60's?

Brainless, the GSD in your clip interesting, look at that length of leg. Would like to have seen more of him. He didn't look soft in the body or nervous.  Fenton of Kenwood does look very nervous poor lad. Look much happier when he finally left the ring:) Surprised he won BIS.

The min pin and the fox terrier look entirely unchanged from then to now. The Borzoi looked gigantic! I know they're big, but the ones I've seen around today don't look so big do they?

Loved seeing the amound of 'Barbara Woodhouses' abounding in their tweed skirts - fabulous :)

I thought that Bozoi huge, but in other clips they seemed the usual size.

The Elkhounds looked pretty much as now, one had a low set tail, but no worse than some of the less show worthy I have seen.

The Afghans and Rough Collies looked a lot better than the excessiveley coated ones you see nowadays - they looked as if they could do their original job

Poor dog couldn't move Barbara his handler has the choker pulled tight up under his ears, he actually backed off the judge in the breed & still won !!

Well you don't see much in the clip.

Some of those GSD's look very much like NI, i know gsds went into creating them but i dont think there was enough of substance to the dog and the head wasnt right.

Louise, I think it is the length of leg that makes them look like NI too.

Brainless, loved the 'Alsatian Athletes'. They look very capable, more so than most of the modern showline GSDs. They are the forerunners of what some call 'the golden middle', meaning not extreme either way, to the modern 'alsatian' or German showline. I believe the wall or 'scale' was changed by the German SV to an 'A' frame, to accommodate the showline dogs as their shape changed.
