thanks for bringing this to our attention, i will certainly look out for any signs.  I did not realise slugs and snails could be the cause of this.

Lungworm has been common on the continent but has spread into this country, thought to be partly due to changes in weather, ie milder winters etc. It started here on the south coast but has been spreading north over the last few years.
There have been a number of posts about it if you search for 'lungworm'.
My dog had it mild last Dec/Jan - the vet recognised it straight away as her own dog had had it previously.

Routinely giving a suitable product suppied by your vet, should avoid dogs suffering from this infestation.

Good old Panacur is still effective and economical.

Obviously not an Our Dogs reader then? ;-)

We have done a couple of pieces on this. Dr Eric Morgan in Bristol is doing some research on this problem.

Lung worm has been with us for many years, hell 30 yrs ago I was using sheep pancur on my parrots, gdad wasn't too chuffed when it came to sheep worming time - a few mils makes a difference apparently oppps lmao.

One of my puppy buyers took her baby off panacur twice yearly on the advice of her vet who later charged her over £2k for 'investigations' of a serious heart/lung problem whilst also administering some powder into her food -did I know what that powder was an antibiotic maybe?  NO its Panacur she's got Lungworm because you followed his advice not mine I know the breed and how much they adore snails and grass love, Vet was duly Sued sucessfully I understand.

There was a HUGE poster and information push at Crufts this year in Hall 3 by one of the online chemists its not a new big issue honestly.
