Have any of you with black dogs noticed that wasps seem to be attracted to them?
One of my poor Dobes seems to be the preferred target of the horrible little blighters and has been stung, whilst out on walks, numerous times this year. Someone I walk with who has Border Collies is having the same problem. My Goldies and Sussex Spaniel aren't being affected at all.
Is it the colour?

We have a lot of wasps around my area but they only seem interested in the food that i or the dogs have when outside.. So other than that no. My older boy was snarling at one flying about his muzzle this morning, so before he got stung i removed him and the food..
I must say you could be right my mainly black spaniel has been stung once and seems to be a magnet for them as well.

My Goldie got stung last week we were staying in an apple orchard with our caravan, she picked up a apple and was playing with it,the next we knew she ran away from the apple rubbing her face on the grass. I got hold of her and there was the sting stuck in her lip...i got it out and the whole lip swelled quite alot.
It was lucky it did not get her tongue or we could have been in trouble.

This is why I always keep Piriton on hand. I had one of my girls stung by a wasp at Darlington CH show one year and the Vet administered Piriton tablets.

Don't know if it will work with dogs, but I rely on Vitamin B tablets during the summer months to keep wasps away. It works brilliantly!
Forgot to take it yesterday and last night I got 'buzzed' for the first time this year. Fortunately the thing lost interest in me and flew on to someone else - phew!
I used to be a WASP MAGNET before discovering the powers of Vitamin B :(
I think I must be lucky this year (sh, don't tell the little blighters ;-) )
but I haven't seen any wasps this year. I have had to watch in the past as there has always been a nest where I walk the dogs, but nothing this year. I wonder if the nest was drowned out with all the rain? It was underground previously.

my apple tree is covered in wasps.
if your dog gets stung, use vinegar. it helps tha pain.
a bee sting, use bicarbonate of soda.
