I am sorry that this is going to be the worse post i have ever done but i think as dog owners we must be aware. I was walking up the downs on Friday with a lady she said have I heard about Rosie (a 18mth Chihuahua) i said no, the lady who is the dog owners next door neighbour went on to tell me that the dog walker (owner disabled) was out on the park with her and his dog both off lead, the man who cuts the grass was on the ride on mower by the bowls green, sadly the little Chi was chasing the mower the dog walker was calling her but the noise from the mower i suppose she couldnt hear the mower man had ear defenders on when all of a sudden the poor little dog got under the mower and sucked into the blades. All parties are extremely devestated the poor dog walker didnt even have a body to take home to the owner.I am so sorry about this post but for the little dogs memory please take around mowers Debby.

Oh the poor dog, that's absolutely horrific.I think most of us would be extremely careful near ride on mowers,I always put my dogs on a lead near them, you just never know.

What an awful thing to happen :(

My dog is not allowed in the garden when we are cutting the grass, I only have a small Flymo and my dog is many times larger than the mower, but it only takes a moment for an accident to happen, dogs do not see the danger.
I can't understand why one would not have such a small dog on a lead when there is a mower in use (even a small garden mower), such an avoidable thing. Poor little dog, poor owner and the person using the mower must feel awfull :( :(

I hope the dog walker thinks twice about potential dangers before letting other people dogs loose next time.

How horrific for everybody, thankyou for the reminder. It's east to get complacent about these thing when you are all out in the garden on a nice day.

Thanks for the reminder , we all forget  sometimes how easy things can go wrong , my Chihuahua is often off lead and loves running across the rugby pitches with the big dogs will be extra vigilant
RIP little Rosie xx

Very sad, but its one of those thing that need  to be shared to prevent the same happening again. like the paper shredder, it doesnt bear thinking about it.

Dreadful - how sickening.  I am always worried walking my dog in the playing fields.  The tractor drivers do not slow down if a dog chases.  I am always careful when I spot them but just occasionally they take me by surprise.  My OH walked our dog before 7am the other day and they were actually cutting the grass then.

Oh  how tragic poor little dog. My thoughts and love are with all concerned and thanks for sharing as it always helpful if it prevents the same thing happening elsewhere no matter how sad the story may be to read.
