why do some show folk use towels on grooming tables and trolley tops?  is it to hide the chalk? why put a towel on?!!

I am guessing you are talking about at shows.

Most places you are expected to clean up after yourself, so if you are cutting hair, stripping, using products the towel is easily rolled up and put in a bag. You do not have to clean your table top at the show.   I don't know anyone who uses it to " hide" chalk.

yes at shows, i have a trimmed breed and only been showing a couple of years. i dont do any trimming at the ringside as i cannot concentrate! i have just wondered whats with all these towels.

i now have a star next to my name, i wonder how i got that.

My groomer does this, so it cant have anything to with cheating.

Could the towels be to stop the dog slipping on the surface?

that is what I would have thought, but then I ahve never used a grooming table, which they do for my breed in the USA, thank god we show ours natural with only the odd bath and just a comb and brush through.

I use one to stop my dog slipping of the table even though the top is ment to be slip proof also because i have white dogs it takes the moisture from there feet and i can change the towel to stop them lying in it

I use one because my girl won't stand on it without a towel, she throws a diva fit :-D  With a towel, she'd happily lie down and go to sleep on the table though.
