my 4 year old bitch last came running into the kitchen whilst i was making their dinner crying.
this is sooooo unlike her she's a hard faced one and is as tough as old boots. i thought maybe she had been stung so looked everywhere but was unable to find anything. she ate her tea and was fine until later in the night when she got off the sofa when she did it again, so i thought it has to be legs, or back again looked at her no bumps, scratches or heat anywhere. again she was fine after.
again later in the night when i told her to get off my bed she did it again. and again this morning.
now i cant even identify where hurts her, wether its a leg, knee, back i just can't see where hurts her. and it seems to me now when she gets off the sofa or out of her bed etc not whilst she is walking.
she is booked in with the vet on saturday when i can next get her there but other than tell her there is pain but no idea where what can be done? its only at certain times.
i wouldn't fancy her being on painkillers as if she cant physically feel the pain i feel she would play and aggravate the injury or whatever it is.
so really what else can be done other than that?

maybe she is pinching a nerve?  I can easily catch the nerve in my left hip, but it passes soon after.

the vet can really only help you with this one but if it were me i would keep the dog rested until then, just in case you do more damage to what ever is hurting the dog.
years ago my boxer woke up one morning and couldn't get up and was crying, i rang the vet and was told to bring him straight in. once i got him up he seemed a bit better and at the vets they checked him all over and he didn't make a sound or show any problem. never did get to the problem but he was ok. only saying this because dogs don't always show the pain when we examine them especially at the vets with other distractions around but it may well be your dog has just pulled something and rest will sort it out.
i'm sure it will be fine.

Cystitis?

This can be very painful, but the bitch doesn't always show any sign of it at first ;)

check her pads she may have something stuck between them .

i have checked everywhere, nothing was apparant.
however she has been ok since so maybe as suggested she had a trapped nerve? well i will have to keep a close eye. thanks for the suggestions
