When it says "*Follow Kennel Club policy regarding maximum age and number/frequency of litters" on the KC site re: the ABS, does that mean maximum 6 litters per bitch, maximum one litter per bitch annually? They don't make it clear anywhere else, and I need to know whether it is worth a complaint or if there is no point because they are "within the rules". Thanks.

I have asked the KC about this 'policy' - as it is easy to find details of maximum age etc but nothing about frequency - their reply - there is NO policy!  So why do they keep mentioning it?  I have suggested they change the wording or create a policy but as yet nothing has changed.  Typical!

The ABS rule is the same as for all KC reg. litters re: age and number of litters.  Frequency of litters only comes into it for licensed breeders, an dis a legal rather than KC thing, although the KC say they adhere to it, but don't think they police it stringently, advising complainants to get inot touch wiht local authority if they feel it has been broken.

So if the breed club recommends a maximum of 3 litters per bitch, but someone has bred 4 or 5 litters out of a bitch they are still within the ABS rules? That's really what I want to know - as will report/ point it out if it's against the rules - but no point wasting my time otherwise.....

Breed Clubs and ABS do not have the same rules.  You say the Breed Club recommends maximum of 3 litters - it is only a recommendation and not a requirement.

Also they can have the accredited Breed Club part as well even if theyre not a member of said breed clubs!

Breed club rules aren't enforced by the KC for ABS members or any other breeder.  The KC max. is 6.
