put your kennel name at the end of teh reg. name of a dog

Yes, if you have bought a dog you add your kennel name to the end of it's name.

The only way you could add it to the beginning, is if you bred both parents then sold them on and somebody bred from them and you got a puppy from the litter.

i meant if you bred them. but you said you cant, shame. some names sound better the other way.

you can put your affix at the beginning or the end if you bred the dog.

Thats interesting I didn't know that thought it always had to go at the beginning

No Claire, that's not the case any more, you used to be able to do that years ago.

If a breeder is using a kennel name to register their litter, the kennel name must appear as the first word in the name.

It's on the litter registration form.

how long ago was that? Alfies breeder has one with her affix at the end, he must be 5 I think, must admit he is the only one I know of.

A long time ago. It's printed in the registration guidelines on a spare paper copy I've got, dated 1996.

Just to add, you can only add your kennel name if the dog has not gained its stud book number -after that the name cannot be changed. You have something like 30 days I think after qualifying for the number, then it's too late.

There is a dog in my breed that has the kennel name at the end, he is 10 years old.

Obviously the KC can be a bit slack sometimes! ;-) The reason I have the form dated is that the bitch missed, so I never sent off the registration application which had been signed and dated by the stud dog owner, and never got around to throwing it out either.
