was considering one with a snugtop as a dog vehicle for my five.

We have an X reg Landrover Discovery at the moment which takes 3 crated in back comfortably (4 at a pinch) with other two on back seats.

Would really prefer to keep all the dogs in the back and wondered what experience forum members have of this vehicle.

i got one L200 twin club with roof had from new in 2001,with sunroof fitted to the cab roof,but you can get air con contect up to the back, which i will do next time when i exchange this one,thats the only down side no air con in the back of the cab it can get very hot.barjo can fit it out with guard to the window so when travling the windows can slide open.
it a great car no dog smell you can easy get 5  big dog in it to a show comfortable.
easy to jet wask out i put shedded paper in the back for bedding it looks like a big hamter cage.
the only other problem some dogs dont like to jump up into it bit high.so you may need a dog ramp.

tesco is the only no commcial company that will insurace them mine was £290 this year full comp.has it class as a commcial vech but the good think low car tax ,
bit heavy on juice.

How much was the tax, I assume you got in to the lower tax as it is older than March 01?

i think it in () £175  no it not beacuse it an old it beacuse it class as commercail
bought mine on  the day of 9/11 will alway remmber the date i bought it,

how much is the one you thing of buy  going to cost you,
i will run mine on to the 10th year and trade in under the new gov deal they are doing

Looking for an X reg or older to avoid the huge road Tax for youngert ones.  Also want the standard not new common rail diesel.

even to new one are not in the high bracket for tax and the new one are better on mileage to,
i look that a new one again in the spring time

We also are thinking of getting one. My three Big Berns are immpossible to squeeze into the back of any normal estate for longer than a 10 min trip to the country park, and as I have started to enter Granny into some vetran classes need something bigger to travel them in without dropping the back seats all the time!
I have been looking into having the windows and back caged for ventilation and a sun roof fitted, but must confess have worried about the lack of air con on hot days. Although I think I would need a ramp I feel sure they would just leap up into the back but worry about joints if they leapt out!! We must perfect the "Wait" command...it's not bad but sometimes the boundaries are pushed if out on one of our really interesting walks, when they are very keen to get looking for Bunnies!!!
The idea of hosing the back out after some of our wet muddy winter walks is very appealing...as it is, there is nothing quite like a muddy rainshower going on inside the car when they all decide to shake after a particularly yucky walk LOL... I think it's the liquid mud drips dropping down as I drive along!!!

it just great you dont get any dogs smell or mud on the sits.or stream window or lick tounge marks in the inside of the car,
you just get all in the cab and you just jet wash it down.

so when was yours registered, as I was told that only those registered before march 2001 did not have higher tax, anyone with a newer one still paying reasonable tax.

Do you know which year they started being common rail diesels?  We waqnt one with the older diesel engine

me 2!  I don't need anything that big as I only have 2 dogs but my car stinks of wet dog trips to the beach, woods, park etc and I can get rid of it out the soft furnishings despite having rubber mats on everything.  The thought of being able to wash the inside sounds like bliss

We've got a Nissan Patrol 2003 reg, (carries our six with ease)  road tax so OH tells me is around £205 he said he thinks it's only vehicles after 2005 that go to the higher rate

Have a 55 plate Mitzy Warrior  £175 tax per year.Only room for 3 mals so have a van as well.
