Just heard the very sad news that Roy Metcalfe died very suddenly yesterday.....a great dog man and very good and honest judge.  He will be sadly missed in the dog world.  Condolences to his family at this difficult time.

This is so sad, he was such a lovely man and excellent judge. I showed under him only a few weeks ago at East of England and got 2nd in stakes class. RIP Roy, you will be missed. :(

Me too, my brace of naughty Inka and suffering Mum Lexi still managed a fifth in Brace stakes.

I had entered Driffield because he was judging the breed and Yearling stakes.  He was fine at Houndshow on Saturday :(

He apparently had an abcess on or under a tooth which required an operation.....he very sadly suffered a heart attack from which he never recovered.  Another very sad day for the dog showing fraternity.

I didnt know him, and had never shown my dogs under him, but he was watching the basenji judging at Windsor and actually came over to me after the judging to say how much he liked my dog and to give me tips and help on showing her (its a new breed for me), i thought it was so nice of him to make the effort to come up to me, someone he didnt know at all, and be so kind and helpful.  A lovely man.

How sad, He was a lovely man and gave us such encouragement when we went under him and his wife at an open show.
This is the 3rd bit of bad news i've had today, so hope it ends there.
