a few days ago there was a message on my mobile from a company saying "your application for a new mobile is being considered". Then 2 days ago another saying it had been accepted. all very well but I havent asked for a new mobile! Today a new phone turned up in a box at the farm gate!! Anyone heard of any scams going round? Ive emailed the company asking them to take it away, but its all a bit bizarre!

We end up with magazines ect from sources and we have got to the state of writing return to sender and sticking it all back in the post? If you signed for it you have accepted it, ask to see the signed agreement and you can get out of it that way, but dont ignor it thay may I say may have your bank detils for a direct debit or have cloned your card.

It seems a bit freaky to me !  Maybe the company is trying to get you into a more expensive tariff or something like that . I would definately want to see any agreement you are supposed to have signed .    Remember to take a note of anyones  name ( first and surname - if its foreign get them to spell it )  that you deal with , along with the date and time of contact .

Someone I work with had their identity cloned, and there were a number of attempts to get Mobile phones. I've also heard of it with catalogues, the scam artists request a catalogue to be delivered to your address (most people think it's just a mail shot), then they place orders and hang around your house, and happen to be just popping out when the delivery arrives - the unsuspecting householder knows nothing about it until the bill turns up.

I wonder if this was the idea with your phone? Is the phone from the same provider as you're with at the moment? I thought phones for new contracts had to be signed for.

I think there is a company who targets Orange customers and traps them into contracts.  Have you googled for any mobile phone scams?  I can't remember the name of the company.  My friend is with 3 and has been getting calls from them too, telling her she is due for an upgrade (even though she has just got one!).

I remember the Orange one, my friend kept getting calls offering her an upgrade but it was a company that had nothing to do with Orange.

same thing happend to my cousin only she caught the man hanging on her landing waiting for her post man this was after she had taken in the first mobile a few weeks before so she knew what someone was upto and was on the look out for the person,

iv had same thing living here as im in a house number 7 bla bla road and their is a block of flats with same name as our road within the estate across the road the women in the flat number 7 misses out the fact that she in 7 bla bla house bla bla estate, and just uses 7 bla bla road as her address , our poor postmen dont know weather their coming or going, theirs also another women in a differant estate up the road who does the same thing all the time it realy is a pain and nothing is private any more, when my sons new statement of educational needs came thu it was post marked a month before i got it and had clearly been opened it was stuck down with royal mail tape telling me so,
i called them and they said the letter had been sent else where i was so angre about this as its private info on my son thats being sent to these peoples address and their nosing thu it,

oh and no point complaining to RM as all you get is letters saying sorry and once i got a delivery from inter flora from them but they sent it to the wrong address lol
