After long hard deliberating I have arranged the surgery that my dog needs to help her breathing problem. She is to have a Laryngeal Tie back operation on the 20th August. To say I am worried about this is the biggest understatement!!! I know that afterwards the advise is that she should be hand fed at least for a while to help prevent the inhalation of food into her lungs!! What is suggested is that balls of softish food be made. As I am trying so hard to focus on her recovery and not dwell on the op itself I wonder if any of you have had any experience of this situation and if so what sort of food you found worked well? Any other words of wisdom here would also be very welcome.

After OCD op on our BC we went with fish, rice, chicken ect.. but rice is small particles. There is always Chappie which our vet says is as close to persription feed as you can get and cheaper. Will the vet give you a diet sheet our always does after any op?

I think the vets the best person to advise you about whats best to feed your dog. if they say any soft food, what about some minced chicken.
hope everything goes well for you both.

I would check with your vet as well, if you are advised to include rice make sure it's slightly overcooked & what I call sticky
