Think your friend has got that a bit confused. The KC will not recognise the title on its registration sustem, but the dog can still be a Ch anywhere if it wins the awards. After all deciding who is a Dutch Ch is down to the Dutch KC.

I have a feeling Stamboom is refering to this, released back in March '09..
Its perfectly clear... There is nothing stopping any dog becoming a Champ overseas, I dont see your problem Stamboom
**THE FCI has decided that, under its rules, UK dogs no longer need to hold a UK champion title in order to be eligible for its International Beauty Champion title.
Implications
The Kennel Club's General Committee has considered the implications of this change and has decided that FCI titles will in future not be added to a dog's UK registration or Stud Book records. This includes the records of imported and ATC dogs.
UK exhibitors who want to claim the FCI title should no longer apply via the KC, as has previously been the practice, but should apply directly to the FCI.
This decision is with immediate effect and applies to all outstanding claims. Exhibitors are advised that, even with official FCI confirmation, FCI titles should not be included on UK show entry forms.
None of the above will be applied retrospectively, for example not to dogs who already have the FCI title recorded on the KC registration database. This change will have no effect upon a dog's class eligibilities at shows which remain as before. **

Of course it will count, it just wont be put on the UK KC registration system. Try entering a Bel Ch in post grad, getting BOB and see how quickly the dog is disqualified!

When the press announcement re FCI International Ch title was published I contacted KC for clarification re National Titles won under FCI rules.
The KC will no longer permit you to enter the dog with FCI Int Ch title on entry forms (unless awareded BEFORE the new rule came into force)
National Titles are NOT affected so our Netherland Ch Field Spaniel can still be entered as Ned Ch at UK shows.. quite right to especially as any CAC wins must be counted to Uk class qualifications. We have two other dogs (GSP's ) well on their way to their Netherland titles and we continue to plan shows in holland. The Ned Ch title however is NOT added to KC registration system so his Uk papers do not show this title.
