Just had a chat to my vet re Pip as it's been 3 weeks since we last spoke. Basically I have to keep going on her RC vet hypoallergenic dry food as this seems to suit her and see how she goes without any drugs and call him back in another 10 days. Her stools did go a bit loose yesterday and this morning but she seemed to have firmed up again this afternoon - up til then she's been great, but she's probably still had steroids in her system.
When we next speak, depending on how she's done and how her stools are, he may well put her onto Oxytet (sp?) antibiotics to see if that helps but is reluctant to use steroids more than he has to especially as she's still a young dog (4).
It is looking very likely that in a few months time she may have to have gut biopsies done which I am worried about, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Thankfully, although the insurance asked for a history, they have still paid up so that's a big relief as it's come to £500 already.
Been online to Vet UK and just ordered in a 7kg bag of the RC food which, including delivery, still comes out £6 cheaper than buying direct from the vets so that's saved a little bit. He thinks she'll be on this food for quite a while now.
The joys of dog ownership. She's had a 'funny tummy' back with her previous owners (she's a rescue dog and we've only had her since January) but they didn't ever do anything about it - they just fed her whatever was cheapest :0(
