Hi everyone,
I am needing some advice regarding food, I have an 16 month old ess who utill recently has been getting fed on wagg sensitive ( I no this is not a great food) but after he refused point blank to eat his JWB I managed to get a sample of this food which he loved, I changed his food over a 5 day period from JWB to WAGG, he was eatting this food no problems at all untill about 3 weeks ago, when the shop we get it delivered from, instead of the 12.5kg bag we normally get sent us 6 2kg bags, now for some reason he wont eat it at all, the food doesnt seem to have the normal texture to it and it does seem to be a lot drier than the bigger bag, even when adding hot water, before there would be a bit of a gravy to it now its rather bland....

So do I look at changing his food again?? which it has to be to a sensitive food for his stomach, he has been on Beta when I got him at 8 weeks, he was very under weight on this and the vet recommended Hill, this just went straight through him, I was then advised to try him on Iams again straight through him, I contacted my breeder who recommended JWB and for about 6 months he was doing great, then he just went straight off it again, put him onto WAGG and he was great untill the recent bags!!!

He's full of life, skin and coat is fine... The only thing I have noticed which I am not to sure if this is connected or not about the same time we started using this 2kg bags of wagg, he keeps biting at his feet and licking them, theres no sores to be seen and everytime he been out and back home hes checked for brambles etc, theres nothing!!!

All advice welcomed as I am running out of ideas of what to do for him..

Thank for reading

Have you tried adding tasty healthy extra's in with his dry food? I know a lot of dogs who get just plain dry food for every meal soon tire of this, and i can't blame them :)

I would ask for a refund and return them,or swap them over with the bigger original bag,as what you've explained doesn't sound good.Or even better look in to some other healthier options, and like i mentioned try adding in some fresh, real foods with his kibble.

Good Luck :)

Thank you for your reply.

We have tried giving him cooked chicken breast, tripe etc even a bit of the jwb meat and he will eat around the dry, (which we always soak) and eat everything else apart from his normal food, which he just spits all over the floor.

Our vet last week recommended trying him on pro plan sensitive or wafcol sensitive, but again we need to add that to his old food before we can fully swp him over and he just wont entertain that food at all, for his breakfast this morning, he is having cooked chicken breast, with some raw carrot and a handfull of his dry food soaked in warm water....

Would you recommend trying to swap him over onto the pro plan or wafcol???  Ive looked at both foods on the net and they both have great reviews and I am unsure which I should go for, the price of the food is fine, as at the end of the day it is what is best for him, to keep him health and full of life....

Thanks again for the advice.

Hi,

It's possible that he's become sensit8ve or allergic to that food hence the feet chewing and he may have gone off the food because it's not making him feel great.  It could just be that it's different to the last batch and he's not keen.  I feed my girls Wafcol Salmon and potato, one of them has quite bad allergies and she used to be quite a fussy eater, her allergies are much better on this food and she eats her food like a normal piggy pants now!  I mix it in with natures menu frozen nuggets as she's allergic to rice and it goes down a treat.  I wouldn't feed the other Wafcol dog foods as they contain quite a lot of grain and soya etc which are often causes of allergies and sensitivities but the adult salmon and potato is a great food with salmon as the first ingredient.  If you contact them I'm sure they'll send you a sample to see if he likes it.
