Hi im new to the board . Hope someone can help me . My poor little chihuahua is having the worst time , hes started sneezing uncontrolably and not being able to get his breath , this is lasting up to 5 mins at a time , continuous sneezing , short of breath , shaking ,  its awful to watch and i feel so helpless when he starts to do this , ive taken him to the vets and because he didnt snort and sneeze when in the surgery she said there didnt seem to be anything wrong ,at first i thought he had something stuck in his tiny throat , then i thought maybe he had a bad cold but my vet said he was fine , im so worried for him , this is the 3rd day hes been like this , does anyone have any suggestions as to waht his wrong with my tiny man ?

I should get him back to the vets and let them have another look. He may have something like a grass seed up his nose so it needs to be checked out thouroughly. Don't just leave it and hope it goes away make sure your vet gives him a good examination including up his nose.

The only time ever that I experienced anything like this was several years back.  But not just one dog, nearly all of the dogs in the house were sneezing.

My vet couldn't find the source, but put all my dogs on something for allergies.  It all came to light when I found an extremely old and musty, broken open sack of birds peanuts that had lain for a couple of years amongst some bin liners in the garage.  Probably, if I had ever put the car in the garage, I would have noticed sooner.

Once it had been broken open by one of the dogs, it seems like most of them got their heads in the sack.  It was all dusty and musty and horrible.

Have you got a mobile film with a camera on, that can also take videos? If so, film him next time it happens so you can show the vet. That will make it much easier for the vet to make a diagnosis -I've done this in the past myself when there have been problems that only happen now and then.

oh goodness i never even thought of filming him , thats an excellent idea , thank u so much for suggesting this , also thankyou to all who replied so speedily , i am feeling at this moment that there may be something obstructing his nose as one of u suggested , i will film my poor little man and get him back to the vets asap .

thanks

My old Lab years ago had a real session of sneezing to the piont of having a nose bleed..vet could find nothing wrong but she kept on doing it and two days later I saw a little greeny speck up one nostril, I managed to pinch it between my fingernails (It was quite deep in her nostril) and gently pulled out a 6 - 7 inch long piece of snotty grass!!! Goodness knows how it got up there but she was very glad to have it removed and no more sneezing!! LOL
