A couple of days ago poppy was limping and biting at her paw and she got quite aggressive when we looked at it. I managed to take a look and found a grass seed stuck into her and pulled it out and she was fine. She's started limping again now though and its a different paw and she can barely walk. She won't let me look at it at all, she flails around and tries to bite me. I'm worried about her, how can I look at it without me hurting her?

can you let her fall asleep next to you and slowly stroke around the area so she can feel you touching her leg, then when she falls asleep have a look?

If you leave it, it will most certainly become infected. Put a muzzle on her - or make one up out of a scarf/bandage. Soak the pad in some warm salt water, the using tweezers just pull it out QUICKLY!
But i don't know what or where it is - i don't know for definite that its a grass seed - i can't even get close enough to see - i know its around the outer edges of her pad but if you even touch it really lightly she starts crying and then goes for you. I'm really worried about making it worse
i tried this with her falling asleep and the INSTANT my hand went near her paw she woke up and started growling. (she doesn't usually growl)

Well, you either find it, by muzzling her if necessary, or take her to the emergency vets! We can't remove it/diagnose it by computer - go by your instinct - if it is hurting her and you can't help, you must take her somewhere that can. And I would do it today - even though its outside hours .......you could pay a lot more if an infection does set in.

Clearly there is something in her paw. most likely a grass seed as if she got one, she could get many if you do the same walk each day. As said you need to ind what and where it is so muzzle her and have alook or call your vet and go and see them. For her to be out of character and aggressive proves something is wrong and hurting her alot, jut touching her foot could be causing her pain.
Most likely it's ingrained to be that serious so if you don't have a muzzle and don't feel comfortable making one give the vets a call.
we're off to vets in two hours. I had another look but it obviously was causing her pain and I ended up crying and not being able to see (I know I'm a wuss!) so I'm off to vets. £50 just for the appointment alone, I;m going to have to sell something!

Hope its not too bad - have you got insurance?
well am glad now i didn't muck about and just took her up there as they couldn't find a grass seed and suspect a fractured toe.. :( got to go back tomorrow so she can have xrays - yes i have got insurance and thank god for it as the bill i'm looking at was £130 for today and about £500 for tomorrow! Shes asleep now, looking very sorry for herself.. With her leg shaved it looks like a chicken leg!
Thanks for all your advice, much appreciated

:-D It grows back in no time, well done for not ignoring the problem, let's hope that she is soon diagnosed and on the road to recovery. :-)
We had this recently with JAke the vet had to knock him out and it was a huge thorn deep in his pad that we could not see. I agree with postings above either try and muzzle her or the vet!!
Just had a seed out of Whistler's ear , I hate this time of the year for dogs and damn seeds!!

Yep, had a grass seed out of George's ear last Sunday, that's one for all 3 dogs now, and of course he had to do it on a Sunday! Well done for getting your girl checked out and I'm sure she'll be fine soon.
