Ok...so Madam is Frontlined yet I occasionally find big fat blood-filled ticks on the floor?

Why???

Are they gorging on her then falling off?  I thought Frontline would mean they fall off before gorging????

Or worse still........are they gorging on me and I'm not noticing????

Have nightmares over the darn things after one almost crawled under my fingernail a few years ago :(

You would notice if they were gorging on you!!! I had a tiny one on my tummy after i had been camping a few years ago, wasnt very nice but was very noticeable even at the tiny young stage of a tick :-(

Not sure why thats still happening if your pets are frontlined though - im sure someone wil come along soon to tell you

Are you using the frontline spray or the drops to the neck. I used the neck drops last year and still found the occasional one, I have reverted back to the spray and have no problems.

GG1 Have to agree, we recently returned from wales and I found two ticks stuck under Kez arm pits ! he had the front line drops only a few days prior to us going away. They freak me out too ;o)

I've been using the drops to back of the neck......
Hate using any chemicals really but can't stand flippin' vile ticks!

Our vet told us ticks are related to spiders, eeek

How often are you doing it and are they getting wet after you have put the stuff on? Because of the high tick burden in our area sometimes you do still find the occaisional one or 2 that have slipped through the net so to speak. It might be worth trying something different, like advantix or prac tic. Practic is great for dogs that swim alot. Some dogs coats means that one product works better than others. Frontline is actually only really effective for 2 weeks after its applied, and the efficacy dwindles after that, so it really have to be done every month for it to keep working well. THe spray is supposed to be better than the spot on, but i find it too messy for me!

One of mine had one drop off yesterday, i thought it was a rabbit poo at first,it was huge.
I groom every day and still missed it. Horrid little things, they take about a week to get that size.

We are using Advantix but I still have had 5 now off Whistler very tiny ones, I think they are dying but still on him. Due to tick again this weekend, last year I used frontline same really. I do not think anything would be 100% unless I shrink wrap him with three holes for eating, pee and pooh.

Frontline is pretty much useless for ticks in spite of claiming to work on them - I've often found them on my dogs after trips to the Lakes and I use Frontline regularly.
