Topic Dog Boards / Showing / can I pick your brains???

I know its not deemed to be the done thing to enter under a judge that has awarded you BOB at open shows before however, what about entering under a judge that had previously given you BAVNSC? This is a dilema I have at a future show and I am not sure what to do? The thing is, he is not only doing my breed but the group as well so am tempted but not sure if it is right?
Any thoughts???

Ottoman, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from entering under this judge again.. regardless of how he placed you.. next show, you may be against different dogs, or possibly same dogs, maturing at different levels.. most judges are happy to see a dog come under them again (depends on whether they are chasing numbers),, many critiques have recorded this..

chasing a Judge around the country is another matter lol..

You will be competeing against a new set of dogs, all of the same breed this time.  Go for it.

Although not the done thing to keep entering under a judge that has given you BOB but it really depends on the entry.  with my breed w can have really small entries we will be the only one there, maybe another person and go BOB.  I will enter under that judge again hoping for more competition! :-D

Also as it's your local show surely you go to the show most years anyway?

Anyway you may not even win your class for various reasons on the day....So give it ago and best of luck!!!!

I don't think I have ever heard this about open shows - not the thing to chase around a judge who has given you a CC, but open shows are crying out for entries, so enter and enjoy.

I've never heard of it either, as Gwen says I've only heard of it when it's a champ show with CC's on offer where the judge has already given you one.

Maybe its a breed thing, I just know its not deemed the thing to do and I have never entered under a judge  with the same dog that has given me a BOB before but as said before, it is my local show, I do enter most years so why not!!!
Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!!

I've a similar dilemma (hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread ottoman!!)

there's 2 open shows coming up that are a fortnight night apart with the same judge doing NSC and group for us (no breed classes) and then my breed a few weeks later.  Both are relatively local to me and ones i generally go to.

In the event that I do well at the first ( i can always hope!!) would you go to the 2nd show or not.

Similar answer to a previous one in the thread. The judge may well get a different entry at each show and although you may do well or not in NSC at the first the breed class at the second could well be very different. So the answer for me would be yes enter and go to both.

Archiebongo of course you do, as at least you'll know whether they like your dogs type or not if they place you highly in the AVNCS classes.

NO Problem!!!
I would enter both, you will be kicking yourself if you do great first time and didn't enter the second. I am going to enter my show in question, he loved my dog ( so his critique said) and I think Arnie looks in even better shape now so will definately go for it!

%Thanks guys, wasn't sure because they are soo close together if it would see a bit strange!  Ah well off to fill in the entries as one closes today !!
