well is my 6 year olds sports day tomorrow morning and some of us mums are not sure what to do, due to this hot weather we are concerned that this will be to hot for our kids to be running around in. There is no shade at all on the field, the school do put up a gazebo for the rest period, but i still think it is going to be too hot for them and of course us parents watching. The children from the senior school held a strike today as they was too hot in class and refused to work in the heat, those that was in the strike were allowed home! So i really am not sure what the best thing to do, of course if we do go then i will be armed with sun screen and bottled water, has any other parents on here got their opinions or experience :)
Check your weather report firstly as some places are to get thunder storms and showers tomorrow whilst others will have hot weather again. :-)
As well as plenty of suncream, sun hats and bottled water for your children, also ask the school to supply buckets of cold water with sponges in them, so that the children can just squeeze the sponges on their heads, necks and clothes to cool off a little, if the weather is anything like today. If not then fill up a large bottle yourself and take a sponge to pour it on to cool off your own child. :-)
Most schools at present have been doing sports day and the children seem to be surviving it, so try not to worry too much, but just make sure they have water so as not to dehydrate.
