Have just had my renewal come in for one of my english mastiffs from petplan-a rise from £42 a month to £58 a month(do you think someone closes their eyes and just hits the keys on the keyboard)lol.

insurance companies thrive on the 'what ifs'.

put that money in a separate bank account and watch it grow. its better in your hands than theirs.

the FSA have more complaints about pet insurance than any other!

I think you'll find its PPI insurance with the most complaints, by a long chalk ;)

ER no I think you will find it is E&L insurance that has by far the most complaints made-they take months to pay out & will do anything never to pay out-eg a dog broke it's leg after being insured with them for two years, E&L tried to not pay by stating it was a pre-existing weakness in the dog's leg that caused it to break !!! The dog had been insured since it was an 8 week old puppy !

I have my Shepherd insured with the vets own version of cover. To be honest it has been very good. It covers him for all check ups and yearly vaccinations. He is covered for any conditions that develop, and follow on treatment etc. The only time i had to pay anything extra was to have some specialist blood tests done. Had more than my moneys worth unfortunatley over the years with him, and only costs me £185 a year.

It doesnt matter to me, but you arent covered financially in the event of your pets death, but i never took the insurance out for that in the first place. Maybe worth seeing if your vet does something similar.

PPI is personal protection insurance, which would have had the most complaints to the FSA as most people were sold it wrongly
